Title: Record breaking day at Hull RUFC
Post by: Yorkie on January 21, 2019, 05:19:19 PM
Followers of this thread may be interested to know that in the 89-0 defeat of Kendal at the Ferens Ground on Saturday three new club personal scoring records were created.

Fly-half Simon Humberstone converted 12 of the 13 tries to beat the 11 scored by James Cameron in 2010-11.

Winger Keane Naylor scored 7 tries to beat the joint 5 held by Mateo Malupo in 2008-09 and Steve Hihetah in 2017-18.

His points total of 35 beats the 30 set up by David Prescott in 1997-98.

Congratulations are sent to both players from all at Hull RUFC.

Good day all round...well done.
not sure I agree, what's the point of a game with such a score, sport should be a contest.would the flyhalf be happier with a Kick to win the game?same with the winger would he have more feel better scoring the winning try.can there be any satisfaction in a route like that.

Heathen,
You raise a very good point of view, which in most games would give great satisfaction under the circumstances. Our game v Blaydon
two weeks ago, which we won 16-14 is proof of this, our fly-half was delighted to get the winning kick.
But you can only play what is in front of you and scoring records come from high-scoring games against lesser opposition.
This is a fact of sporting life my friend which will never change.

Very wise.

Another club record broken at Alnwick v Hull yesterday.

Joe Stafford the Hull No8 set up a new club record when he made  his 45th consecutive appearance for Hull and celebrated with a very good try.  He beats the previous record of 44 set up by Kris Fullman, a prop forward, in 2012.
