Good luck to both teams representing Yorkshire against the old enemy!!
Hopefully you'll have a strong referee and beat them playing Rugby!  ;D

Tarleton are unbeaten this season, so if you beat them on their own patch it'll really send a message!!
Good luck guys!

Sorry Yorkshire lost 10 7 absolute mud bath the game should never had been played in that pitch , how it passed a pitch inspection is beyond me ????Fair play to tarleton 2 chances won them the game

Mindful of the economics and logistics of travelling across there, but doesn't your captain still have the option of saying it is unfit?

Friday night we were told we would be playing at Preston grasshoppers if it failed a pitch inspection the ref decided it was playable on the morning

Reg 13.6.6 says you had the choice. - if i've read it correctly.

If I'm also correct, the ref doesn't have the final say so his views are largely academic?

Technically it's the refs call but he/she would be pretty brave/stupid to make a team that reasonably considers a pitch to be unfit play under those circumstances.

I thought it was the two captains until the game kicked off?

Having watched the game as an ex referee and referee advisor i would say this yes the pitch was heavy in places and very firm for the majority of the pitch. The pitch had been deemed fit to play by the referee so you play the game with what's in front of you.Admitted it rained nearly all game and in windy conditions which didn't help.At the end of  day the I saw a committed game from both sides in not the best but playable conditions which was a great credit to both sides.Tarleton knew they had been in game saying it was the hardest game in two years.I have refereed games on far worse pitches than the one on Saturday especially at Sheffield Tigers that springs too mind.
