We lost 39-31. On way back will post later.

Another 5 mins and we would probably have won BUT very fair result. Red card for Scarborough - fully deserved both by the law and also that it was such a girly puffy slap!!!!

Excellent referee and a good day.
Suspect you got a TB point which may prove invaluable at the end of the season. That is if you can field a side? At this rate you are going to have more under suspension than available?

Any news from Morley?

Great win by the York boys today. Not present personally, but a five pointer should just about ensure they stay in this league. Well done to all!

You normally disappear from the ground without a trace when you lose if what I've been told is true!
That won’t have happened many times this season!

If the Scarborough disciplinary matter relates to their home match v Pocklington may I make the following observations:

On entering the ground, I received the distinct impression that the home side felt that all they had to do was turn up to take the game from their lowly opposition. This impression was further reinforced following Pocklington's inability to score after being camped in the Scarborough 22 for the first 15 minutes.

The referee was playing the laws in a different way to what the home side was expecting. The home captain allowed this to go on for too long before he first started questioning the official. This led to both frustration mounting within his team, and a belligerent manner in his communication with the referee. It is a known fact that in this league referees from different associations officiate in different ways. Scarborough's failure to deal with this was the single main factor in their defeat. It was also noted that one of the Scarborough replacements became involved in an argumentative discussion with a Pocklington supporter towards the end of the first half. I know from my own sporting days that once you lose 100% concentration in the game in hand then you are beaten.

Both these points will be doubtless confirmed by the forensic Scarborough video evidence. I have no doubt that as well as showing the alleged elbow to the face  made by the Pocklington scrum half, it will also highlight the disgraceful behaviour meted out by elements of the home crowd to the visiting 18 year old fly half as he prepared for, and missed, his conversions.  There is no place for that in any sport, let alone this fine game. Doubtless it will also show the thuggish challenge (I won't call it a tackle) made on the Pocklington prop in the first minutes of the game causing him to leave the field of play. The sort of video evidence normally found on Saturday night town centre CCTV footage.

Silver Royd is a fine ground and Scarborough is a fine community rugby club. To become a great club they need to acquire the quality of dignity in defeat.
I had posted a similar list plus more with regard to a Pocklington team member experience on the day. My post was taken down by the Scarborough moderating mafia and I was personally attacked for my vile slurs!
The truth is the ref is a local to North Yorkshire and Scarborough obviously got the wrong side of him, which doesn’t help the players or the vociferous boo boys who occupy the balcony. Scarborough need to sort out the wheat from the chaff otherwise there will always be potential for reoccurrences which I am sure they nor the team are hosting will want to see!
They let themselves down as did their Captain. The problem is you can’t learn from your mistakes unless you are prepared to acknowledge you were wrong!

Looking to be a very tasty finish.... will Scarborough put the Maroons to the sword ? Toughest game of the Season by the look of it, certainly from a promotion point of view.
Doubt Scarborough will come away with anything more than 2 losing bonus points! That however will probably be enough come the end of the season.
The thing is they could really do with home advantage in the playoffs. So 1 losing bonus point might be enough. But anything less and an away playoff beckons!

Its nonsense!

A genuine error.

The Young man can legally marry and have children of his own, get a job, join the military, drive a motor cycle.

Political correctness gone mad!

A genuine mistake, no advantage sought or gained!

What does this say to those who may fall foul of a similar mistake in the future?

Where is the reward for honesty and integrity?

BRB Alf is partly right in that Yorkshire sports fans love to come to Scarborough to watch. You only have to compare the large crowds when YCCC play there two county championship fixtures at North Marine Road compared to the poor attendance at Headingley.

So Alf is right Scarborough could and should become Yorkshire’s senior club.

Where Alf is wrong the jewel on the Yorkshire coast is Brid.
Not sure I can agree with that!!

Think Moortown’s top try scorer has 18. But we have 4 players on 13 or more tries
That must be expensive. Do they get a try scoring bonus as well as a win bonus?

Morpeth do have to play Morley.

If they slip up away at Pocklington next week and Scarbs turn over Morley, then a completely different perspective comes into being.

if however they don't slip up in the next 3 fixtures, the top two positions in the league could be sorted out before their last game of season against Morley.

All to play for. Who will blink first?

Looking at the tables both Scarborough and Blackburn are in prime position to finish second in their respective leagues.

Although Scarborough have 4 points more with same number to play (84 against 80) Blackburn do have 4 games that they will think they can win and secure a try bonus point from each.

That means it would be reasonable to assume that Blackburn may well end the season on 100 points.

Consequently that means Scarborough will need to get something out of each of their remaining 4 games (3 x 5 point wins and something from the Morley game). Other calculations are available!

They are nailed on for 5 point victories against Percy Park and Bradford and Bingley at Home, no doubt Malton will be just as easy away from home. That would leave them with 99 points.

So the big game at Morley next Saturday is crucial to Scarborough's promotion ambitions! A minimum of 1 losing bonus point is required for the destination of the play off semi final to remain in their hands.

I suspect that BRB and the Scarbar blazers will be offering extra win bonuses next week at Morley, to ensure, the secure another lucrative day at Emma Royds, for the end of season finale!

Scarborough will get 15 points at least from their remaining 4 games unless they get cold feet about promotion! That puts them out of reach of Morley who I think will beat Scarbs next week .
The question is who will find enough form at the bottom of the table to avoid joining Consett in the drop. Some really interesting fixtures which could see it go to the last game of the season for a number of teams.

York’s performance was woeful. Defensively they were very poor.
This game was over as a contest after 11 minutes when Morpeth scored their third try to go into 19-0 lead.
York kicked off and only touched the ball again to restart after the Morpeth 3 tries.
That said Morpeth playing into a very strong breeze were very good.
They deserve their position at the the table and were too good all round for York.
The Morpeth hosts were very good and other than watching York being put to the sword and the leek munchers winning, it could have been a most enjoyable day.
I think Morpeth will go on to win the league as they are the best team I have seen twice this season! Good luck to them.
As for York I thought the 55 points they have already accrued would be enough to secure safety, that may have been a little premature.
It is in their hands with 3 of the 4 to play at home. But they will need to show more acumen, desire and fight in spades to get the win they may need!
