Not sure why people are suggesting everyone start on 0 in the new league. As it is now everyone in the 4 ‘Premier’ will have played each other twice, which means the league will shake out fairly.

Roth game is a HWO.

Mosborough were good for their win and it will be difficult for anyone to get a win at their place.

Rotherham were poor, allowed Mos to consistently disrupt the rucks and mauls. That coupled with too many mistakes at the worst possible times meant Roth never really looked like winning the game.

Mos have a great defence and are extremely disruptive at the breakdown. They don't offer a great deal in attack (apart from their rapid winger) but they play to their strengths well, which is a good kicking game and a decent pack of forwards. As I said backs were great in defence but they lacked a strong ball carrier to get them over the gain line, which would then help them develop more set plays. Should be seen as a strong contender in the next half of the season.

As for Rotherham, a break for christmas followed by a few rockets up the rear at training should help get ready for Hessle at home in the new year, followed by York who won at Clifton Lane. Both very important games.

Bramley Phoenix  v Thirsk - Should be a win for Bramley.
Burley v Halifax - Home advantage should see Burley take this reasonably comfortably.
Corinthians v Knaresborough - Game of the week. Going with Home Advantage, but should be really close.
Hessle v Rossington - Will be a HWO.
Mosborough v Rotherham - Huge challenge for Roth. Mosborough a good team, so should be a great game.
Ossett V Rods - Ossett strong at home. Rods have been in good form though.
Oaks v York RI - York at a canter.

Halifax v Bramley - I'm going to back Halifax at home

Knaresborough v Wibsey - Home advantage in the game of the week.

Thirsk v Leeds Corinthians - Corninthians should have too much.

Rossington Hornets v Mosborough - Almost certainly an AWO.

Ossett V Rotherham Phoenix - Roth are actually away as the fixtures were switched. Backing Roth.

Stanley Rodillians v Sheffield Oaks - Rods to keep hold of 4th place.

York RI v Hessle   - Loser of this game is going to struggle to make up the ground for a top 4 finish. Backing Home Advantage.

Leeds Corinthians v Halifax - Should be fairly comfortable for Leeds
Wibsey v Burley - Game of the week. Fancy Burley to go in there and nick it.
Mosbrough v York - Mosborough with home advantage
Ossett v Rossington - Can't see anything but a HWO here to be honest.
Sheffield Oaks v Hessle - A chance for Hessle to get the sinking season back on track. They desperately need a win to keep touch with the Top 4.

I think that the 8 teams that end up forming the top half will not be far apart in points.

It will come down to the games after to decide who will be going up.

At Roth we have had a good start to the season but long way to go yet.

Bramley Phoenix v Burley - Bramley used to be a tough proposition at theirs but seem to have fallen off a cliff in recent years. Burley should have enough.
Halifax v Knaresbrough - Knaresborough to win at a canter here.
Thirsk v Wibsey - Wibsey to score a half century.

Hessle v Mosbrough - Hessle on a shocking run. Mosborough to take it.
Rossington v Stanley Rods - Rods should be on a high after beating Hessle and Ossett. In the running for top 4?
Rotherham Phoenix v Sheffield Oaks - Roth to bounce back with no mercy.
York v Ossett - York to be high on confidence. Should be a good game.

For another Roth perspective we can complain all we want about unavailabilities, ref etc. Every team faces these problems. We didn't turn up on the day and York were good for their win and fully deserved the points. In the end their goalkicker was the difference, knocking a few good kicks over. Red card didn't help towards the end of the game.

Frustrating day, but not the end of the world. Hopefully a kick up the rear to stop us getting complacement. Wish I could be playing.

Halifax v Wibsey - On form Wibsey should take this fairly easily.
Knaresbrough v Burley - Game of the week. Going with Home advantage.
Leeds Corinthians v Bramley Phoenix - Leeds will be looking to put some space between them and the bottom 3.

Ossett v Mosbrough - Have to back Mos here, although Ossett are always a tough physical game (dislocated my shoulder last year!)
Rossington v Sheffield Oaks - If Oaks can rally a team they should win.
Rotherham Phoenix v York - Should do the business at home.
Stanley rods v Hessle - Going for a bit of an upset here. Rods toppled Ossett at home a few weeks ago so they are capable.

Yorkshire 4 / Promotion to Yorkshire 3

Having not commented for a while but now out with a long term injury thought we could start a bit of debate.

With a maximum of 3 games left in the season which 2 teams have the best shot of promotion. As it stands Skipton and Hemsworth are well placed but by no means home clear. There are 3 other teams realistically in with a shout. Here are the run ins of the 5 teams:

Skipton
Vs Stanley Rods
@ Hemsworth
Maximum points: 82

Hemsworth
@ Burley
Vs Skipton
@ Ossett
Maximum Points: 83

Burley
Vs Hemsworth
@ Leeds Corinthians
Maximum Points: 74

Rotherham Phoenix
@ Ossett
Vs Hessle
Vs York RI
Maximum Points: 77

Leeds Corinthians
@ Bramley Phoenix
@Burley
Maximum Points: 69

In terms of run ins, Roth have the easiest as we don't have to play any of the top 5, with 2 games at home where we haven't lost this season. However, we are reliant on Skipton or Hemsworth slipping up.

Leeds look unlikely as they need Hemsworth to really drop the ball. Burley also need results to go there way.

At this point Skipton and Hemsworth are in the driving seat with 3 weekends of rugby left. Thoughts?
