Regional Two (North & North East) / Re: Reaction from week 1

Is the board going tobe about the other diviions too, as suggested?

We (Morpeth) traveled to Stockton who put up a fight for a while but wilted in the end. It seems a trip to Stockton is similar to a trip to Consett....if things run as today they'll fare better at home than they will away, and the away trips 'could' be brutal.

Good lads though and we wish them well.

Now that's a good idea!

3
We up North will have to try and rustle up a new forum for whatever we're going into next season!

I will of course keep checking in here, I'm keen to find out how Bees arriving in September with a bulging war chest goes down

It will be a tragedy if those boys who've knocked their pans in trying to fulfill games for the Bees are cast aside next season for 'better' players they buy in.

We'll see....

5
There'll be uproar surely if Bees are back next year hoying money around without seemingly any penalty for their abysmal performance this year. How many clubs have had bar take hit by call offs now?

As I've said before, I admire those at the club who are trying to hold things together, but the thought of the same old, same old happening again next season, after being saved by no relegation this season, is appalling.

Post dated sanctions perhaps? A trip down to Y5 to rebuild possibly?

Did Orell not go from Level 4 to Level 9 when they imploded like this a few years back?

6
What a surprise.

Game off.

Dismal.

7
When, without wishing to stir the pot, Bees appear to manage to play 'most' of their home games, therefore pouching bar take etc.

I too applaud those doing their best to keep the club going but it's a shitfest all round.

Thoughts?

Not 100% sure how to fairly review todays game at Morley. The game was so poorly officiated that most merit league games would of been surprised by the standard on show by the referee.

Ultimately the better team won.

6-13 at half time due to any Driffield attacking opportunity being stopped by a referees whistle, on many occasions home and away supports left scratching their heads as to the reasons why.

Second half it was more of the same. Referee stopped anything that resembled a fair contest, until with 10minutes to go the Young Driffield winger made a strong run from 60m out to score. The game then seemed beyond Morley (and the referee) and the flood gates opened, 4 tries in 9 minutes.

The referee kept trying to find away in for Morley and it finally worked with 2minutes left on the clock.

Very disappointed to be bad mouthing a referee rather then talking about the performance of the players, however I didn’t watch a game of rugby today. I watch one man in the middle the pitch penalise one team out of a game whilst allowing the other to play by a different standard.

None of us like to moan re refs so this fella must have been a shocker, it#ll be interesting to find out his name as we had a similar one earlier in the season (so bad in fact that the assessor said he was going to ask him why he'd so obviously picked a team to win), you have to put it down to subliminal one eyedness.....thinking any ref at our level woyld 'cheat' is a road to ruin.

A good battle at Durham today, we knew it would be very tough and so it was....they are a physical outfit and made H advantage tell.

Nowt will change unless they make a huge effort to do so. The 'individual' benefactors 'sponsoring' individual players will be back, the big budget with savings from this season added on etc etc.

I sincerely hope not as B&B is a lovely ground and a cracking place with plenty good rugby people,  and they have enough income ie their big tent etc, to keep a normal club ticking over.

The foolishness of chucking money at bang average players will soon come back to haunt them if they go down that route again.

Fingers crossed.

So basicallylittle change other than losing two teams..

You gain another local derby against Brid

Depends where you're from.....after a lifetime travelling yorkshire every other weekend, it looks like we at Morpeth are off to pastures new.

I'm not sure how we'll cope without a 3 hour bus trip ten times per season.

15
A good one for the neutral at Silver Royd today, Morpeth probably created more chances but Scarbs definitely played the pitch / conditions better.

We're delighted with the 1 point win but it could easily have gone the other way.

Both sides had changes, loads on our side, and the fact Matty Jones commendably put in a full 80 for Scarbs tells their story.

Plenty of surprises left in the coming weeks.
