Regional Two (North & North East) / BIG GAME ON SATURDYA
« on: August 25, 2022, 07:08:18 PM »
For anyone interested we at BRIDLINGTON host the annual Turnbull Trophy game v DRIFFIELD on Saturday afternoon.

It is usually a "cracker", no holds barred for this long standing trophy.

Its serious stuff folks!!

Well, most interesting, REALLY looking forward to next season and renewing old friendships we have missed over the last few years!
Good to get 3 local derby's back again. ( Malton, Pock and Scarbro)
Not so good having to play on brods mountain again though!!
Enjoy the last few games for us, win or loose looks like we are up!!

Just been thinking about next seasons supposed regionalised league structure of a 12 team league.

Now as it stands at the moment then Middlesbro, Old Crocs, Ponte and Brid would come from Y1.

From the current NE league that would mean as it stands at the moment, there would be---B&B, Morley, Pock, Moortown,
Scarbro, Malton, Brods and Cleck.

(of course at the top of NE still not sure who will go up )

Thanks for your concern. Poor lad is in a bad way. Total dislocation of the ankle, and a break to the femur.

Was laid on the pitch, albeit covered from the driving rain and wind by lots of umbrella's and a makeshift tent.

Good job because it was over an hour and a half before an ambulance came, first responder took nearly an hour to arrive.

Evidently it was 10.00pm before the dislocation was sorted, operation on the femur today.

Alot of you "oldies" will remember his dad, Paul Chapman who played 8 or lock in our glory days many years ago!

My view is that there is ZERO chance of league/merit rugby being played this season.

The pandemic will, as predicted by many experts, be worse in this 2nd wave than the first, and will last well into Spring.

No sane "player" at an amateur level would want to put at risk family members, both older and younger for the sake of 80 minutes of high risk activity, and the associated travel, changing, post match activities.

Having said that. there will be many younger players with the same attitude as shown in our larger cities, ie "sod you" i'm young and it won't affect me too much so i'm going to carry on as normal!!!

Alas there will be many clubs who will not survive, either because of financial problems or the sheer problem of members drifting away, particularly those with young families.

Other Senior Rugby / Re: Rugby Start up

hi all, not posted for a while ,but have been following the discussions!!

for once I agree with some of BRB.s thoughts.

With the now likely 2nd wave, particularly in the West Riding, no chance of rugby before feb. I would have thought. I mean who the hell in their right mind would want to go from a very low covid area like ours on the east coast to areas where the spread is rife.

Cancel the league structure this season and start afresh in 2021/2.

IF it is possible to play later in the year, keep it local, non league. There would then be lots of hard fought local derby's.

We could have great mini series, Scarbro, Brid, Malton, Pock, Driffield, Beverley, Goole------hey that's 12 games, or to put it another way, feb, march and april!!!

( if we have to play league rugby, it's a long way during these times to Middlesbro and Dinnington--supposedly part of a first series of local games in the proposed mini leagues )

Regional Two (North & North East) / bridlington sign new player coach
« on: April 26, 2019, 11:35:13 AM »
We have just completed the signing of a new coach who will also play. ( and bring some players to bolster our squad)

He is Mike Myerscough from Yorkshire Carnegie.

He will bring a vast amount of experience to Dukes Park.

Hey-Ho---should be good next season in either Y1 (or NE1 if we avoid the drop due to numbers in this league).
