Drove past Wensleydale today and they had Salem on the sponsors fixture board by the roadside. Take it that is in PPJ cup this week. I take it from that they intend playing you. One of only a few surviving games.
Good luck to both sides.

I was sat with a Harrogate bigwig pre match, when we played at Pythons some 18 months ago when he was bemoaning the fact that Gate had £60 -£70k playing budget against other teams' (then Nat 2) budget of £130k plus. Even at that level I would have thought that the pitch would be a priority. Lets see. Still a lot of money to pay to one team of players IMO

Not many on here will know this,  but our near neighbours Kirkby Lonsdale have put out a crowdfunding request to up grade their floodlights. Think the target is £33,000. If they had not paid a bunch of six foreign mercenaries for several years and then to head a player revolt off decided to pay ALL players for a couple of seasons, they would have had plenty of money to do so. They eventually came to their senses and stopped paying all players three years ago and have narrowly missed being relegated into the bottom league in Cumbria. We have always had a good relationship and we at Ribb take no pleasure from their recent struggles which included a near world record defeat of 190 - 0 against a very strong Blackburn team. Just wanted to highlight the pitfalls of falling into the trap of paying players rather than developing the clubs facilities. I sincerely wish them well as they seek to rebuild with a team of lively young backs. Good luck to a good local community club.

Long way to Ashington, but I suppose after last weeks takings against Ribb the club treasurer will be happy to sanction a bus trip.!!!!

Salem rumoured to have been paying that for their rugby league centres three leagues below you. But I suppose its all rumours.

A rare glimmer of class in a competition that few want to support. (59 walkovers today). I have no doubt that it was a good affair at Selby today. With Brods there it was a game between two proper clubs who in my opinion epitomise all that is good about Yorkshire rugby. Although we are still some way from playing you again, one can only hope we can see in the not too distant future. Good luck to both good clubs.

BBB
I take on board your comments but, surely you must admit that despite the condition of your pitch the club is going backwards, I remember fondly going to Claro Road as a colt in the late 90s and you had at least 4 strong teams when the game was amateur.
Now you have only one team and a new pitch that appears pants. And your players will have no loyalty to the club if you decide you could no longer pay them. they will desert you and leave you in a very poor position .
There is no gloating here, I just hope that wherever your funds come from they dont dry up and cause the demise of another historical Yorkshire club.
I know you will not like this comment, and it is not meant with any malice. But, it appears that if money was not involved the developing Pythons might meet you in the league structure. I know you will say that will never happn, but who would have ever thought that Bradford and Bingley would be below North Ribb and a club formed from your old Third xv in the league structure. I certainly would never have believed it.

Doubt it they are £millions short. Given the relatively derisory transport support maybe they could negotiate with a national transport group an agreed travel fee, far in excess of what our individual clubs can do.

Probably point out Harrogates errors and lack of values from inferior leagues below where "Gate" will surely be back to if they spend their money on making Rudding Park fit to play on instead of giving the golden Dollar to players like Ilkleys Dobson just after Christmas. I know we have had an unprecedented amount of rain locally but surely a recently developed pitch with "Grass" Technology available should be able to survive when others cannot. Apparently that is not the case at £"Gate".
Lets hope global warming heats up quickly or their current dilemma could last for years driving holes in their "Home" game budgets etc, etc.

just checked the website and W/O now totalling 59 for todays fixtures alone. Hhhmmm. Bet the sponsors are delighted at the support  being shown towards the respective competitions.

Gateprop I cant be ar*** trawling through the last six seasons and I know Wetherby and Wensleydale have done that as well as Pythons. Those clubs have done exceptionally well and made great progress through facility development and recruitment combined which is surely the way forward. Maybe my point was poorly made and I didnt expand enough but if you look at the bottom half of Y2 this season the bottom four places are sides that have been recently promoted from Y2 and the top half does not have anyone (maybe Baildon) who have been promoted recently. Baildon, if the rumours are correct have spent a bit of brass on their progress but they are the only ones.
Good luck to all clubs whoever they are on maintaining their respective league status.

Agree both sides have had great seasons, but recent teams promoted in say last four years havent fared that well as Thornensians, Hemsworth, Corinthians (back in three) will confirm. Personally wish them both the best and with both teams playing records great this season they will hopefully be ok.

Now Now vanman lets keep things amicable. Best of luck to you in the Pizza cup. Hope you dont get too far or your treasurer will have a heart attack when he sees that the travel support is the equivalent of asking your players to hitch hike possibly to Somerset and beyond!!!!
See you on the "Burma Road" sometime.
Flaggy.
