All, the forum has been down for the last few days. Hopefully all now resolved.

Just a quick mention that one of the forum members has for the third year in a row paid for the domain and webhosting that keeps this forum up and running, so well done to that man/woman/non-specified gender person.

After an impromptu decision Saturday morning to head to the coast for the weekend, it was a pleasant surprise early Sunday morning when stood next to the car putting on our walking boots in preparation for a decent walk the forum benefactor and his family rode by; bicycles not horses by the way  ;D. Good to catch up briefly with him, and we wished each other well for the New Year.

Although I rarely post on the forum these days, there are still many members out there who I would like to class as friends, whether I have ever met them or not. So I hope you all had a great Christmas and will have a prosperous New Year.

Anyone recognise the 8 playing for Sheffield tonight against Rotherham Titans in a pre-season warm-up? https://goo.gl/photos/imxoMUfjCADvsUEa9

Great to see the son of one of our own in the starting XV for England Counties U18's today against Ireland; Sam Pocklington was scrum-half. I bet we would all like to wish Sam and his family the best of luck, and hopefully a blossoming career in the game.

Regional Two (North & North East) / Dinno v Durham

As we had a free afternoon my good lady and I popped up to Lodge Lane for the Dinno v Durham game; only our second Dinno game of the season. Great conditions, and a decent game to go with it. If I remember correctly it was 21-3 to Dinno at h/t, and a final score of 21-16. Quite a few new young faces in the Dinno team which was good to see. Some photos here for anyone interested https://goo.gl/photos/98unojwuYovQgh2F7

Could be a really good player if he could sort out his body position when taking the ball into contact. Big powerful bloke but gets stopped too many times in positions where Billy Vunipola would smash a hole through the defence.

Other Senior Rugby / Struggling for players?
« on: October 02, 2016, 06:19:26 PM »
I was up at my local club Dinno last night, I rarely go up there these days. I got chatting to a few people who are linked to the 1st XV and we talked about the fact that the team are struggling this year, and I was then advised (I had guessed this when looking at the squad on match reports) that a number of players had left since last season, and some key experienced personnel had been missing through injury for much of the season. So much so that half the starting XV was now often made up of players that are arguably not 1st XV standard, some are young lads with potential but that's it at the moment. Dinno have never paid players, and could never afford to pay players so that's not an option.

Therefore, I was wondering whether many clubs are struggling for numbers and quality through their senior ranks?

Great to meet one of our long standing forum members today up at Hull Ionians, we were there to watch Rotherham Titans come away with a 55-5 win in their last pre-season game. His 17 year old son has done extremely well to become part of the Titans 7's team over the summer, and had a run out today for the full Titans team; a really impressive young lad. A couple of photos, one of the lad in action and one with his dad after the game. Can you guess who the forum member is?

Score today, Sheffield Tigers 7 Rotherham Titans 67. Titans have replaced 75% of the squad so need to gel, just not sure what we will have gained from the result?

Now, I'm a very easy going person, I don't really fall out with people, I have no enemies and in general I don't let things bother me. It's rare that I have a strong opinion on anything, and will only speak out if I have strong views. I'm sure it drives my wife nuts when she says "what do you want to eat", and I say "not bothered, anything", or "where shall we go today on a day out", and I say "I'm not that bothered, where do you want to go?".

However, when it comes to bad driving it really gets on my t*ts  >:(

The amount of people who change lanes on motorways and dual carriageways and never indicate, who drive up the right hand lane on a slip-road then turn left at the top, who don't indicate that they are turning at a roundabout so I sit there not aware that I could have pulled out, who drive along in the middle lane when there is no other traffic, who completely ignore the closed lane on the motorway and drive right up to the cones and expect you to drop back and let them in, who approach their chosen motorway exit in the outer lanes and then cut across everyone to get off, I could go on, and often do  ::)

Now based on the percentage of people who this applies to, there must be lots of forum members who do the above, so why? What is is that is hard about using an indicator?

I'm a little obsessive about always using indicators when changing direction, or using correct lane discipline, and driving within the speed limit (ok I might go a little over on occasions) so feel that I can whinge about it.
