Regional Two (North & North East) / Week 4
« on: September 22, 2022, 06:46:43 AM »
Lots of interesting fixtures this week, clubs still getting players back from cricket, farming and holidays.

I’m useless at predictions but here goes:

Dronfield v Bridlington – Closer game than many expect going for a Brid win but with Dronfield getting a LBP.

M&N v B&B – Can only see a home win by plenty.

Moortown v Selby – Home win.

Morley v Scarborough – Home win in a high scoring game.

O Crocs v Ponte – Hard game to call,  history says Ponte don’t win very often at Crocs, this seasons form suggests Ponte should win. Going for a Crocs victory but with Ponte getting a LBP. Will King Kong be playing for Crocs? Perhaps Alf Hart knows the answer.

Pocklington v Old Brods – Expect another close game but going for a Brods win.

Regional One (North East) / York HWO

Understand York have been given a home walk over by Northwich because they cannot raise a side.

Not a criticism but sad that at level 5 clubs cannot raise a side.

Spotted another info release from the RFU  web site the link is on the top of the browse competitions page not the place I would have expected.

The RFU are determined to push ahead with the restructuring what ever clubs think.

Yorkshire 1 / Prospects for Yorkshire 1
« on: September 02, 2021, 04:12:35 PM »
As we have heard nothing from clubs in Y1 let me try to kick start the conversation.

I expect a close season no run away winners a few slightly better sides then a block evenly matched sides winning a reasonable number of home games but less good away. Which I expect will see two decent sides relegated.

At the top group I expect to see Beverley, Old Crocs and Middlesbrough, also think Selby could be there if they can be more consistent.

Of the other clubs I know Bridlington have stated there target is promotion this season.

Of the sides I watched in 2019/20 think Dinnington, Leo’s & Ponte we’re the most in need of improvement. Told by people who watched Y2 Roundegions and Rish are good sides and if they have retained most of their players will be useful additions to Y1.

Yorkshire 1 / Level Transfers
« on: May 14, 2018, 11:56:09 AM »
I was in the North West over the weekend and spoke to someone close to RFU North.

I understand the competitions committee meet tomorrow to discuss amongst other things level transfers.

There is considerable opposition to level transfers and how they are working  from Cheshire, Cumbria, Durham and Manchester. Clubs in those four areas want more local fixtures and less travelling.

I’m told that one option on the table is for only one level transfer from D&N1 and that will be Middlesbrough if they opt to stay for a second season. If Middlesbrough go back then one other team.

That would leave Yorkshire 1 a team short and that would require Yorkshire leagues to be adjusted so  the second bottom team stays up. That would mean North Ribb staying up. It would also effect the second bottom team in the other Yorkshire leagues.

That would leave D&N1 with 15 teams and would have to be solved by relegating three sides as has happened before.

Or RFU North can try to impose the league regulations and accept the consequences, there is already the threat of clubs in The North West quitting the league structure.

Yorkshire 1 / Easter Saturday
« on: March 08, 2018, 09:35:17 AM »
From the YRFU web site.

EASTER SATURDAY 31 MARCH 2018
Would all Clubs please note that owing to the large number of League games still to be played, as a result of the extreme weather encountered this past Winter, it has been decided by the RFU North Divisional Organising Committee, that Easter Saturday, 31 March 2018, will have to be used as a designated League Saturday.
This decision is regretted, but found to be necessary, as there are currently in excess of 150 League games still to be played in the North.
In addition, Clubs are also advised that it may be necessary to ask League Secretaries to prioritise those outstanding League fixtures involving teams who are involved in either Promotion and or Relegation issues. Also as previously announced, Clubs are reminded that the current season does not officially end until Monday 28 May 2018, and therefore in some cases, Clubs may be asked to fulfil League fixtures during the month of May 2018.
Mike Smith. Chairman. RFU North Competitions Committee.
