Yorkshire 1 / New Season Predictions

Now the teams and fixtures are confirmed who do we think are going to be the runners and riders at both ends of the table? Having only played competitive matches against Wensleydale in Y2 and Wetherby years ago in Y3 we’re going in blind really. Only 34 points separating the teams left in the league from last season so a couple of players lost or gained could make a big difference.

Yorkshire 2 / Papa Johns Finals

Congratulations to the Counties 2 Yorkshire sides that have made it through to finals in the Papa John’s Community Cup. Obviously a trip to HQ for Wensleydale is an awesome experience but Darlington Arena is a great stadium as well. Best of luck to all those involved!

Final games of the league season and all to play for at the top with 3 teams capable of finishing 2nd. Pythons will finish 2nd with a win of any sort. A draw or loss opens things up for Baildon and if both us and Baildon lose then Wath could sneak into 2nd place. Exciting round, just a shame it had to be played on Easter weekend.

No official predictions necessary but how do we think our league will fare against relatively unknown opposition? Presumably of the 7 teams that have entered they’ll all be giving it their best go. Fair old treks for Wensleydale and Yarnbury though.

Not too many surprises today. Always looked to be a bridge too far for Wheatley Hills. Our game started all too familiarly with us playing fairly terribly and Ribb playing well to their game plan and accumulating points. A missed penalty to put them 23-7 up with 20 to go seemed to galvanise us and we started actually playing some rugby and found some bottle. 3 quick tries gave us the 5 points we needed and probably left Ribb feeling frustrated to only come away with 1.
