Regional One (North East) / 16th September fixtures
« on: September 14, 2023, 08:10:13 PM »
Blaydon v Alnwick - Poor result last week for Alnwick at home and fully expect a home win in what is as near to a local derby as they get.
Cleckheaton v York - Cleck were poor last week and unless there are some new personnel boosting the ranks go for a reasonably easy away win
Doncaster Phoenix v Pontefract- Who would have predicted this to be a top of the table clash. Very early days but the winner will have had an excellent start. Keeping the faith with a Ponte win with BP's for Donny.
Heath v Sandal- Sandal highlights from last week saw them seemingly getting bossed in the scrum. Hope they have some bulk returning or this could be a long day. Sandal's good nucleus to keep the score reasonable.
Ilkley v Harrogate- MOTD. Should tell us a lot about these two teams. A Gate win would represent an excellent start from three difficult fixtures. Fancy a narrow home win though.
Driffield v Scunthorpe - Comfortable home win.

Well, here is the last predictions of the season and it is great that the league has gone to the final saturday. Ponterfact or Moortown will be a happy place come 4 o clock on saturday. Good luck and whatever the outcome well done to both teams on a fine season, .
Morley v Bridlington - Think Morley will have a narrow win or an easy win, depending on the Brid teamsheet.
Old Crossleyans V Bradford & Bingley - Easy home win
Moortown V Pocklington - Town to do their bit comfortably with Pock left to think about how it all went wrong.
Pontefract V Scarborough - Match of the day/season. Was very impressed with the composure of Ponte last week. Will probably need similar again. Going for a comfortable home win though with Borough going to have to produce something special to spoil the party.
Malton and Norton v Old Brodleians - Malton looked a good side last week and at home should win easily.

Moortown in command at the top with Ponte and Malton keeping them honest. Pock needing a miracle but are capable of pulling of a victory or two. Hope they do to keep it interesting.
Bridlington V Dronfield- Seemingly Dronfield only do close games and Brid will have to back up a big effort last week so they might keep it close again. Still going for a home win though.
Old Brodleians V Pocklington- Pock look doomed so this is a must win. Terrible result for Brods last week, seemingly with a few players out. The result will say if Pock have the stomach for the battle. Home win just.
Pontefract V Old Crossleyans- Always a close game and Crocs looking competetive. Ponte suffering with injuries at the moment but should still have enough at home.
Scarborough V Morley- Home win with relative ease.
Selby V Moortown- Like to think Selby on a roll after last week, but tipping an easy home win on Towns canter to the title.
Bradford & Bingley V Malton and Norton- Seen no glimmers of hope from Bees, do well to keep it respectable.

Proving to be a fantastic league with the promotion and relegation picture changing weekly.
Bridlington V Old Brodleians Two of the form teams. Take home advantage with Brods sneaking a bonus point.
Dronfield V Bradford & Bingley Dronfield had the worst scrum I have seen but every other facet of the game was good. Handsome home win.
Moortown V Scarborough MOTD. Moortown supporters were in shock last week by the ease of Ponte's win. Home advantage and possibly a player or two back means a home win, just.
Morley V Pontefract Can it be labelled a local derby? Good win last week for Morley but was it poor opposition? Ponte very average on the road but going for a narrow away win.
Old Crossleyans V Pocklington Comfortable home win as Pock try to get the wheels back on.
Malton and Norton v Selby Malton going well and it will be interesting to see how Selby's season goes from here. Comfortable home win.

Some great fixtures this week.
Bradford & Bingley v Bridlington- Brid to win comfortable but Bees have a result in them at some stage, and they can't be complacent
Old Brodleians v Old Crossleyans- Should be close with home advantage winning the day.
Pocklington v Morley- A battle to see who is the best of two under performing teams. Pock seemingly in freefall so a close away win.
Pontefract v Moortown- Ponte are tough to beat at home but haven't been firing of late. They will be up for this one though and take them for a narrow win. Heart ruling head.
Scarborough v Malton and Norton- Another potential cracker. Malton seem to have got their act together of late and I think they will sneak a narrow win.

Some cracking fixtures this week.
Morley V Moortown - Moortown back on track here, with no BP.
Old Crossleyans V Malton and Norton - Tough place to go and Crocs have turned it around. Narrow win either way, go for Crocs.
Pocklington V Dronfield - Pock are in a real mess by all accounts. Take them to win this though, just with home advantage.
Pontefract V Bridlington - Apparently, Ponte squad is stretched with key personnel missing. Looking forward to this one, two form teams. Can the imported props scrummage as well as carry the ball? should be interesting. Fancy a very high scoring match, home win just.
Scarborough V Bradford & Bingley - Bees are improving but nothing for them here.
Selby V Old Brodleians - Both teams seem to lack depth, so availability on the day key. With no confidence, a narrow home win.

With even the Bees thinking they will finish bottom, who will join them. Only allowed five guesses so couldn't put any more names in.

Regional Two (North & North East) / Top spot

With the league at a very interesting stage, thought I would try a poll to see who might finish top. Can only put in five guesses so can't name any more teams.

Some good fixtures this week, here goes.
Moortown v Malton - Poor result last week for Malton and Moortown not the place to be going when off form. Maximum home points
Morley v Dronfield - Should be close with home advantage getting the nod.
Crocs v Brid - Depends which Brid turns up. A Crocs victory would really shake up the bottom of the table. Close, but going for a narrow home win.
Pock v Bees - God help Pock if they lose this. Since been 19-3 up at Ponte a few weeks ago the wheels have come off. Back on track here with maximum points against a team, by the looks of it, in the wrong league.
Ponte v Selby - Selby must still be smarting from the pasting at Ponte last season and will surely be up for this one. Ponte going well and can't see anything but a five point home win.
Scarborough vs Old Brods - After seeing Brods the week before was amazed they won last week. Boro did well to beat Ponte last week and their winning streak should be comfortably extended to maximum points.

Regional Two (North & North East) / Week 5
« on: September 30, 2022, 09:18:29 AM »BB v Moortown - Comfortable away win, home advantage preventing a rout.
Brid v M&N - Expecting a close game. Malton probably the better team but home advantage will level up. Very close away win.
Brods v Dronfield - Good win for Dronfield last week at home and Brods not going so well. Close home win.
Ponte v Pock - Another close game. Pock unlucky that pro athletes willing to put their bodies and careers on the line for the love of playing have had the rug pulled under them. Pock will be favourites but Ponte are good at home. Usual pushover try or two to seal a very narrow home win.
Scarbs v Crocs - Great win for Scarbs last week. Bit of doom and gloom at Crocs, comfortable away win.
Selby v Morley - Can Selby reproduce the opening day form, a result that might be crucial come the end of the season. Morley will be devastated at the last two results but back on track here with a narrowish victory.

Yorkshire 1 / Predictions 9/4/22
« on: April 07, 2022, 08:40:05 PM »
Beverley v Roundhegians - Max points for Bev.
Bradford Salem v Huddersfield YMCA - Home advantage to count, just.
Goole v Leodensians - Comfortable maximum for Goole
Middlesborough v Dinnington - High scoring game with a five point champion performance from Middlesborough.
Selby v Bridlington - Joint MOTD. Selby should want it more. Overseas contingent gone for the seasiders apparently, so home four pointer.
West Leeds v Pontefract - Joint MOTD. The development of this young Ponte side through the season has been impressive. WL need it, but will they get it? Availability issues for the away side I hear and not a happy hunting ground, so yes, just (wouldn't put a penny on it though).
Old Crossleyans v Old Rishworthians - Shoud be a cracking derby. OR a well organised side and capable of a shock, especially at home. Going for a Crocs five pointer though.
Bradford Salem v Huddersfield YMCA - Home advantage to count, just.
Goole v Leodensians - Comfortable maximum for Goole

Beverley v Pontefract - Should be a five pointer for Ponte but have a feeling Bev have a good side if everyone available. Presume they aren't and go for Ponte.
Bradford Salem v Bridlington Tough travel for Brid but go for a Brid win with no BP, one for BS though.
Middlesbrough v Goole- Form team Goole but Midd away a step too far, max points for champions elect.
Old Crossleyans v Huddersfield Y.M.C.A. Not sure if this is at YM as earlier game switched, five pointer for Crocs either way.
Selby v Dinnington- Max points for Selby
West Leeds v Leodiensian- Max points for WL
Old Rishworthian v Roundhegians- max points for OR

Huddersfield Y.M.C.A v Bradford Salem Home advantage to come out on top, two disappointing teams this season.
Middlesbrough v West Leeds Possibility of an extra promotion place should spur WL on against the champions elect but a losing BP for them at best.
Roundhegians V Selby Away victory with a BP

Bridlington v Beverley - Brid on a roll and Bev not the team to stop them, max points home win.
Dinnington v West Leeds- Top four hopes gone for both sides so expect home advantage to count.
Goole v Selby- Impressed with the Goole revival. Should be close but take Goole to finally end Selby's top four hopes. Max BP's for both.
Leodiensian v Bradford Salem- Home advantage to count, just.
Pontefract v Old Crossleyans - MOTD. Looking forward to this match up. Thinking a bonus point win for Ponte unless Crocs find a new front five this week. Crocs not top for nothing though and can see them amongst the bonus points.
Roundhegians v Middlesbrough - Middlesborough to come away with maximum points.
Huddersfield Y.M.C.A. v Old Rishworthian- Away win with no bonus point. YM may sneak one.

Dinnington v Bridlington Big game in battle for top four. Absolute must win for Dinno and I take a home win with an away BP.
Huddersfield YMCA v Middlesbrough Low scoring away win in the mud. Worse the conditions the better the chance for YM.
Leodensians v Old Crossleyans Leo’s with their best team out capable of a shock, unlikely though, away win with no BP
Selby v Beverley Selby coming up on the rails. Home win with BP to keep top 4 ambitions alive.
West Leeds v Roundhegians A must win for West Leeds and I think they will with maximum points.
Huddersfield YMCA v Middlesbrough Low scoring away win in the mud. Worse the conditions the better the chance for YM.
