« on: October 18, 2015, 04:55:15 PM »
The White Swan pub in Gargrave Nr Skipton , would appreciate the return of their barstools and various other fixtures following the visit of the "naked rugby players" from Heath.

The barperson is still traumatised by the "flashing of male equipment" but nothing (pictures) will be posted if the pubs fixtures are returned ????

Seeking Fixtures / Skipton U17's/U16's seeking Fixtures
« on: February 08, 2013, 01:17:42 PM »
We have merged our Junor Colts with our U16s (basically an U17's team with U16's playing up and yes, all forms signed, lodged and correct), and the guys are looking for fixtures for the rest of the season as we have pulled out of the League and cannot take part in the Yorks Cup event.

If any Junior Colts teams fancy a friendly fixture home or away, please PM me.

Yorkshire 2 / Hot off the Press
« on: May 16, 2012, 09:24:22 AM »

Cut & Paste from an e mail just received.

News hot off the press from Northern RFU Competition’s Committee is that Moortown have not been relegated to Yorks 3 next season. It’s all to do with Keighley’s promotion to NE 1 and the re-structuring this has caused.  So only Goole have gone down with Roundhegians and Sheffield Medics coming up from 3 and only Castleford coming down from 1.

Mini & Junior Rugby / Shaping the Game
« on: May 15, 2012, 11:07:33 AM »
The new playing rules of play have been released to Yorkshire clubs following the trials in three other counties (one of which was Durham) and YRFU have asked clubs to comment as to whether these new rules shold be adopted from Sep 2012 for U7's, 8's & 9's.

Any reactions or initial thoughts?

Mini & Junior Rugby / The Dennis Cobbold Memorial Shield
« on: March 29, 2012, 03:27:22 PM »
Well done Keighley and also Bradford Salem & Selby. 8)

"The Dennis Cobbold Memorial Shield

Yorkshire RFU Ltd. are pleased to announce that the Dennis Cobbold Memorial Shield for the 2011-2012 season has been awarded to Keighley RUFC.

Honourable mentions were given to Bradford Salem RUFC for their inaugural work and Selby RUFC for maintaining high standards over a number of seasons.

The Shield will be presented at the U15 and U16 Yorkshire Cup Finals on Sunday 1 April. A significant number of nominations were received - many thanks to the RDOs and District Safeguarding Managers and the final choice, although not easy, was well-deserved.

Citation for the Dennis Cobbold Memorial Shield

The Dennis Cobbold Memorial Shield is donated by his family in remembrance of Dennis and awarded by the County to the Club whose Age Grade section has been outstanding in the provision of a safe and secure environment in which young people can develop and play the game of rugby union. It embodies the core values of the game – teamwork – respect - enjoyment – discipline – sportsmanship- values that Dennis represented in all that he did.

Other Senior Rugby / BBC Yorkshire Rugby Union Forum
« on: February 15, 2012, 08:41:10 AM »
Just got this via e mail. Might be an interesting evening !!

Looking at the poster, it would suggest that the event is not just open to club officials, but also club members.

BBC Radio Leeds is holding a Yorkshire Rugby Union Forum on Monday 5th March. I'd like to invite you and other members of your club along so you can share your views on the state of the game in Yorkshire. The Forum is aimed to discuss the health of rugby union in the county and ask what the future holds. It will be broadcast across BBC Radio Leeds, Sheffield and York. The top table panel will consist of IRB board member and ex England and Lions captain John Spencer; the RFU’s Jim Chapman and Leeds Carnegie’s Chief Executive and member of Premier Rugby Gary Hetherington. In the audience will be officials from other clubs, like yourselves, and members of organisations such as the Yorkshire RFU, Yorkshire Refs and RFU development officers.   The Forum will discuss all issues concerning Yorkshire rugby at all levels - from meeting criteria to be promoted to the Premiership; to National League club funding; grassroots rugby; the junior game; women’s rugby; player numbers / safety; school rugby, referees; media; and so on. Basically it's designed to promote Yorkshire rugby; to highlight what support is out there for clubs; to discuss any concerns; and share success stories. The Forum is free to attend and open to anyone, who has an interest in rugby at any level and in any capacity. It will be held at Yarnbury Rugby Union Club, Horsforth, Leeds, LS18 5HB. We ask you to be there for 6.30pm, for a 7pm start. It will be recorded on that Monday and then broadcast at a later date. I also attach a poster about the event and hope you could put it up in your clubhouse to help publicise it please. If you have any questions about the Forum please get in touch with me. Many thanks and I hope to see you on Monday 5th March.
