Regional Two (North & North East) / BIG GAME ON SATURDYA
« on: August 25, 2022, 07:08:18 PM »
For anyone interested we at BRIDLINGTON host the annual Turnbull Trophy game v DRIFFIELD on Saturday afternoon.

It is usually a "cracker", no holds barred for this long standing trophy.

Its serious stuff folks!!

Just been thinking about next seasons supposed regionalised league structure of a 12 team league.

Now as it stands at the moment then Middlesbro, Old Crocs, Ponte and Brid would come from Y1.

From the current NE league that would mean as it stands at the moment, there would be---B&B, Morley, Pock, Moortown,
Scarbro, Malton, Brods and Cleck.

(of course at the top of NE still not sure who will go up )

Yorkshire 1 / games off today

Brid v Salem off---Salem declined to travel given the weather

Yorkshire 1 / 0ne fixture today!!!

Hi everyone, Bridlington play Pontefract this afternoon , 3pm ko at Brid.

This is after last weeks abandonment.

So come down, even some of you NE league lot !!!!!!

Regional Two (North & North East) / bridlington sign new player coach
« on: April 26, 2019, 11:35:13 AM »
We have just completed the signing of a new coach who will also play. ( and bring some players to bolster our squad)

He is Mike Myerscough from Yorkshire Carnegie.

He will bring a vast amount of experience to Dukes Park.

Hey-Ho---should be good next season in either Y1 (or NE1 if we avoid the drop due to numbers in this league).

Regional Two (North & North East) / POCKLINGTON LOOSE 5 POINTS!!!!!!!
« on: September 16, 2018, 10:30:39 AM »
Come on then, someone shed light or speculate why the rfu site shows Pock loosing 5 points!!!!!

Is it something carried over from last season?

Is it playing unregistered player (s) ?

Failing to complete match cards ?

Come on then, lets be knowing!!!

Regional Two (North & North East) / FIXTURES ARE OUT!!!
« on: June 01, 2018, 12:00:06 PM »
Hi everyone!!

The fixtures are out today!!

You can see them on North RFU website---download as an excel file.

Also out today are the Yorkshire Merit and League structures---no fixtures as yet.

Keep enjoying the summer break.

6 out of 14 in East Yorkshire most likely next year----Brid, York, Malton, Pocklington, Scarbro ( hopefully) and Driffield!

Should make for some very "tasty" derby fixtures!

Combine that with Brad & Bingley, Huddersfield YM, West Leeds, Cleckheaton and possibly Morley!!

Hang on!---that's possibly 11 out 0f 14 sides from West and East Yorks.

Think Penrith and Alnwick will go up, that leaves Morpeth a bit out on a limb, presuming their nearest club Northern might go down!

Who will stay up out of Percy Park ( think they will survive) West Hartlepool and Dinnington?

Regional Two (North & North East) / THIS WEEKS PREDICTIONS
« on: February 03, 2018, 11:52:09 AM »
Well, been away on holls for a while, so a bit of catching up to do!

B & B          v           ymca    Interesting local derby---close call, but B&B to just win.
Brid            v           West H. We, hopefully should win, although a lot of injuries! ( at least we have played all our games so far so get 2 weeks rest in
Feb---better to have results "under the belt"!!)
Cleck          v           Dinn      Are Dinn resurgent after last weeks result? Think Cleck will be too strong though.
Driff           v           Northern  Driff to bounce back after a surprise defeat last week.
Morpeth      v          P.Park     Reasonably local fixture, but expect a solid win from morpeth.
Penrith       v           Malton    Penrith will be too strong at home!
W.Leeds     v          Alnwick    THE PICK OF THE WEEKS GAMES!! Whoever wins could be a pointer to promotion prospects. If WL are without some of
their excellent backs then Alwick to just win. WL to win well if at full strength.

With all the catch up games to play, ups and downs will be in the balance well into April!!

Wishing all "followers" a wonderful festive break.

Here we go for the first of the 2nd half of the season----13 gone ----13 to go!! and it's going to be close at the top----presume 2/3 up---but who has the financial backing to survive with some of the big payers!!!

Alnwick     v     penrith       not quite so far for penrith, but I expect to Alnwick to win

Cleck        v     b & b          local derby, I think cleck backs will be too strong---home win.

Dinn         v     morpeth     Long travel for morpeth, I have a feeling that dinnington might well "sneak it" with a close win.

Driff         v     brid            great local derby, doubled up with the annual "Turnbull Trophy". I expect a record crowd ( possibly 800-1000)
I don't want to predict, hope we can sneak a win or possibly a draw!

Ymca       v     w. leeds      again a fairly local game, but w. leeds should blow ymca away.

Northern   v    Percy Pk.    Difficult to predict, both not going well at the moment, but I am going with a close win for PPk.

West H    v     Malton        I think Malton should win this one.

Cheers one and all.

Well, the last weekend of the 1st half of the season, and what an "up and downer" it's been for some!!!

Anyway, more on this theme after this weekend, so here are my thoughts:

Bradford & Bingley       v       Brid        Could we sneak an away win---hope so. ( last time we met a couple of years in Y1 we lost by 3!!)
( Should have won---referee awarded a try in the corner---their linesman remonstrated, and
persuaded him to change his mind!!!!!)
Hudd YM                     v       Northern    Should be a home win, which will really put Northern in the relegation line up!
Malton & Norton          v       Dinnington  Hope Malton will come back to form and have a good home win.
Morpeth                      v      Cleck         Morpeth should be too strong for Cleck at home.
Penrith                       v      Driffield      TASTY fixture, I wouldn't rule out an away win as I wasn't very impressed with Penrith last week.
( seemed very one dimensional---too many speculative kicks downfield)
Percy Park                   v      Alnwick     Not really a long travel for Alnwick, so I expect them to win----just!
West Hartlepool          v      West Leeds  Now in theory WL should win, BUT with West H at home who knows!!

Well here we go again!

Alnwick at home should "see off" Malton quite comfortably--that will be 4 losses on the bounce for Malt!!

We should just sneak a home win against Penrith who seem to be better at home than away!

Cleck are on a roll---so they should win at home quite comfortably against P. Park.

Dinnington to win against Hudd YM!

Driffield v Mopeth is for me the pick of the weekend games---should be a "cracker", with Driffield to win.

Northern, although at home, will I think loose in a close game v West Hartlepool.

Local derby in "wessie land"---West Leeds will well "stuff" B & B at home!!

Regional Two (North & North East) / SATURDAY 25TH----MY THOUGHTS!!!!
« on: November 20, 2017, 11:24:03 AM »
Here we go after a weeks break!!

Hudd YM     v     Alnwick      Should be an away win for Alnwick, although if YM can control up front and stop their full back who knows!

M & N         v     Cleck         M & N will be too strong all round----bounce back after 2 defeats by Driff in last 2 weeks!

Morpeth      v     Brid           Well, you never know---keeping my fingers crossed for a good game!

Northern     v     W. Leeds   Away win, WL backs to dominate!

Penrith       v     B & B       Easy home win!

Percy Pk     v     Driffield     Interesting one this---think Driff are on a roll and might well sneak it!

West H       v     Dinn.        Should be a home win.

Ok chaps!!!

Regional Two (North & North East) / THIS WEEKENDS PREDICTIONS!!!!
« on: November 10, 2017, 03:10:22 PM »
In an effort to get this "forum" going a bit more, here are my thoughts for the weekend!

Alnwick V West Hartlepool          Alnwick to win by a good margin
B and B v Morpeth                     Morpeth to win, but a close result
Brid      v Percy Park                  We might just sneak a home win!!!
Cleck    v Hudd YMCA                 Cleck should win, but a bit of a "local derby" could go either way.
Dinn     v Northern                     Dinnington to continue their winning ways after last weeks shock
Driff     v Malton                        Another local derby game---could this be a draw?
W. Leeds v Penrith                     I suspect that West Leeds will edge out Penrith with home advantage.

Oh well--look forward to tomorrow.

Regional Two (North & North East) / VERY STRANGE WEEKEND!!!!!
« on: November 05, 2017, 12:05:01 PM »
What a weekend as far as results went!!-----loads of surprises!!!!

Who would have expected the Dinnington result----good for them!

Surprised at the close defeat for Driffield!!

Great to see the battle at the top, with a defeat for who I thought would sneak it---just shows after their hammering at Malton the other week that they are not invincible after all!!

Never expected to see Northern beating Alnwick in a NE derby!

As for B and B, what a great result for them!!

West Hartlepool beating Cleck, another surprise for me as I thought Cleck backs would be too strong.

As for us, 5 1st choice backs out this week, no excuse but I thought Malton were the best all round team we have played---no individual stars ( like Driff's No8, Alnwick's full back, Clecks centre for eg )but a good performance from 1 to 15!!
