Regional Two (North & North East) / Re: Results 10th Feb
« on: February 12, 2024, 02:25:28 PM »
I have avoided posting on here this season but felt the need to break my streak.

As secretary of Moortown RUFC I attended yesterdays game with my 12 year old son in tow.

I must say I was shocked just how poisonous the Crocs crowd were, in particular towards the referee.

It was a fiesty game but well “reffed” IMO, Moortown received 3 yellows for what now is considered high tackles. Absolutely no arguments from us and each card was spot on. I think Crocs got 4 but 2 of them were for the 8 who ended up getting a red with 10 minutes to go.

But that crowd, wow. And it most definitely spilled onto the pitch with Crocs giving away several penalties in the second half for back chat.

This was topped off by another Crocs red after the final whistle for dissent/ref abuse.

Far from what I was hoping to show my lad on an away day but we live and learn.

We can’t expect that Scarborough hospitality every week. For that reason alone I’m rooting for them to stay up.

Dear Secretary of Moortown

Please feel free to contact me at ocrufc@outlook.com as secretary of Old Crossleyans.

I would have appreciated had you done this in the first place.

I wasn’t at the game due to work commitments but dare say there is some hot air on both sides over recent events.

There was last season’s fixture when some Moortown supporters attempted to assault the Old Crossleyans touch judge, if you recall this went to discipline as the referee had stopped the game and asked your coach to take steps to speak to the offenders.

Also this season’s original fixture when you attempted to have us deducted 5 points despite no agreement over the timing of a rearranged fixture.

I must also say, when your staff arrived at our club on Saturday I showed them to the kitchen where I personally provided them tea and coffee and even free biscuits, for which they seemed grateful and happy to receive.

It is however with a significant amount of disappointment that I heard no official or player of the club came into the clubhouse after the game.

As a club we have taken a hit, food, time and effort have gone to waste and for what.  I believe myself and my club have reached out the hand of friendship on Saturday and have been met with disrespect.

Please let’s not casually forget our own indiscretions when choosing to sling mud on a public forum.

Regards any issues on tackle height, these are technical issues and will be dealt with by the match officials.

Old Crossleyans Club and I will also always strongly condemn the abuse of match officials (see point re-last seasons assault above) and in addition to any sanction the YRFU pass down, the individual will also be dealt with internally.

If you wish to discuss this matter further I suggest you contact me at the email address provided.

Regards,
Ryan Price
Secretary
Old Crossleyans RUFC

I think Rish will be straight back up and I'll be surprised if they don't top the table.  They'll be a bit more organised and the slightly easier fixtures will mean less "injuries".  Don't think some of their boys like it when the going gets tough, some of their best performances came from their clubmen!

Looking forward to it - if Town can release their backline they'll be fine.

I don't think that'd save you!  ;)

I predict a win from both Selby and Guisborough this weekend. Selby are clearly a different beast at home and with their superior fitness should just about do it against Crocs. Unfortunately Old Crocs I feel will start to drop down the league from Saturday onwards, their Siddal imports won’t like this cold weather and muddy pitches, causing them to chose shopping with their girlfriends or boyfriends instead. Guisborough have narrowly lost all their games, perhaps a period of adaptation to Yorkshire 1 Rugby? I’m sure they will see this weekend as a must win and feel confident about it. Beverly will bottle it this weekend, big loss coming their way.

It's bad enough that some people think this tripe up let alone share it with the world!

Surely the big game of the coming weekend is Crocs Vs Boro... one team (poss both) is going to loose their 100% record

You'd have thought MPW would have been more keen on this one than the other 2 games he called!

Surely any week where 1st plays 2nd that's the pick of the games.

Except AFC Bournemouth vs Arsenal in week 1.

This is desperately sad news.

"Max" absolutely loved his rugby, loved a ruck and despite being a Cleck lad through and through (we tried to poach him) he was willing to turn out for anyone to play a game.
He almost loved playing for Crocs 2nd XV as much as he loved playing for Cleck.  He played 4 or 5 times for us last season and was great company.

 :( :( :(

Guess Rish recruit through their Juniors in the main, and Crocs pay their players.

Sorry, must have missed the 5 or so 17 year-olds who made their debuts for Crocs in the 2nd half of the season and played a key part in their run-in!
4 Hammond brothers, all home grown, the 50+ year-old prop homegrown.  Young POTY hooker who's been with the club for 3 seasons now in addition to the 5-10 other members of the squad who all played at the school or have played for the reserves before.

The club has not paid any players, just the player-coach at a rate that is within the guidelines laid out by the RFU.

If they can secure enough of their own ball, Crocs top 4 finish!

Flunket

Yes I realise Yarn aren’t promoted but the previous discussion was about yarn/ grrrroves and sort of connected ...

Anyway ponte are champs so who else goes up aren’t as good as them . Crocs weren’t good last I saw them but ...always a but.. I’m told they’ve ‘recruited’ so I don’t really know about them now .  I am sure though that this year the div 2 teams have been pretty evenly matched across the board . Ponte aren’t a long way in front of everyone else as the case has been in recent years . We will see next year but I bet ponte come straight back down . I base that in what I’ve seen personally in Yorks 1 which is simply better by a distance than what I’ve seen in Y2 . We can only wait and see .

It's Flunker!

Crocs recruited in 2017, any additions in 2018 came from the Juniors, they've kicked on through coaching and cohesion.  For the last 5 games they've scored 50+ and 6 times in the last 8 games.  I think they'll be fine in Yorkshire 1.

Well at least half of my comment is positive cos I want Grrrvians to stay up ... or don’t you see that ??

I like yarn and have a really good long standing mate there but I want the opposition to win this weekend. To be fair if they were both in with a chance if the drop I wouldn’t offer support to big Dans boys .  Neither yarn or ponte are as good as the teams promoted in recent years . That’s just my opinion not negativity .... I have watched bugger played for a long time and it is simply what I see before me . If you don’t like that or disagree that’s absolutely ok . The proof will be next year because I will bet anyone that ponte come straight back down !

You say neither Yarn or Ponte are as good as the teams promoted in recent years.  Yarn aren't getting promoted.  What about Crocs?
