Regional Two (North & North East) / Leagues big recruiters

So which clubs have been recruiting the most to bolster their teams?. (Nothing wrong with that btw, just interested)

As everyone knows it’s not Scarborough. One player with links to another North Yorkshire club thought he was throwing muck at us by saying we were picking previous 2nd team players. (Actually in many cases previous 3rd team players). However we see that as a huge strength and are proud of ever player who pulls on a Scarborough shirt.

However other clubs have been recruiting heavily. It’s well documented that Pock are pulling players in from all over.....but which other clubs have made many new signings? Someone said Old Brods were hitting the signing form hard. Moortown keep attracting young players to the MBH, clearly the extra poppadoms they get with their balti is the big draw. Mind you which young player wouldn’t feel at home when the lights get turned down, the music gets turned up and the disco ball starts spinning on the MBH famous weekly 70s night.

Brid have reintroduced classes for the local players and all their imports. The locals are doing brilliantly, rumours are that one of the forwards can now speak 4 languages....that still leaves three players he can’t communicate with.  ;D ;D (Said in jest before there are any sulks)

Will B&B suddenly “find” some players. It seems like the natural physics that should have occurred last season will now come to pass a year later.

Not sure about many other teams so you’ll all will have to help out. I’ve started the recruitment league table below.

1. B&b
2. Pock
3. Brid
4. Old Brods
12. Scarborough

“After several weeks behind the scenes discussions, it has been agreed that The Development side, or The Thirds, will come out of their merit league for the rest of the season. Be assured that this decision hasn’t been taken lightly and re-entry into the merit table will be reviewed at the end of this season. Dwindling player numbers and availabilities has led us to this point.

So, moving forward, we are looking at playing friendly fixtures and also looking toward some Friday night fixtures. Ideally we would be looking to field aside twice a month.

If you feel you can …”

Moortown by a mile
Fancy Brid here but only if have some fight in them.
Draw at Brods
Close game at Ponte...should be pock, just.
Close home win for scabs.
Morley by a point.

Moortown won't struggle in the wet, they just won't be as effective and will lose several over winter. But so will everyone else in this league. No runaways.

Credit to driffield in league above. Doing really well and still putting out 4 teams.

Scarborough 2nds and 3rds play there this weekend.
Driff 2nd team would compete in this division. That's the only benchmark for successful promotion, a 2nd team nearly as good as your 1sts.

Episode 3 of the Scarborough Podcast.

Round up of all the club rugby activities and then an interview with a lifecoach about mental health issues amongst other things.
All very interesting and grown up. (suggest Moortown members Google Peppa pig instead 🐷 🤣)

No complaints from me. Other than the scoreline (from our perspective) it's was a good day for rugby. Busy lunch, large crowd, good atmosphere and some entertaining stuff on show.

The young Moortown team completely deserved their victory and they had a quite an array of talent on show.

Regulars to Silver Royd will have noted it was a particularly challenging week for selection but good a fight was put up by the team on the day.

I think Moortown may fade a little in the heavier grounds but they will certainly be top four at the end of season and have every chance of going up.
