Well done to the North boys, deserved champions.
Great season for both teams.
We’ve pushed you as much as we could. We’re proud with what we have achieved. Highest points difference in any of the Yorkshire leagues is a very different story from my previous umpteen seasons with the club.
We both go to up to 2 in good form. The big test is staying up there as last time we imploded and came straight back down. The club is in a much stronger position to push on this time round so fingers crossed.
Enjoy the summer and rest those bodies up.

Barnsley V Burley - Speaking to Barnsley lads last week, the second half of the season is taking a toll on bodies. Think that might be the difference with Burley picking up some results. Burley +7.
Halifax Vandals V Castleford - Big week for the club, 2 teams at home and possibility again of securing promotion. Hope to make it happen against a tough Cas side. Vandals win.
Rotherham Phoenix V Northallerton - Game of the week. North maybe not as solid as the first half of the season and Pheonix picking up results. Think North to do the job. North +7.
Sheffield Medicals V Halifax - Fax gutted to have conceded a draw after leading into the final minutes last week. Think they’ll take it out on the students. Fax +7.
Skipton V Thirsk - Skipton struggling and Thirsk are solid. Thirsk +7.
Wheatley Hills V West Park Leeds - Can’t decide between these two. Coin toss landed on WPL. But could easily be the other way round.

Big weekend ahead. If my maths is correct North and Vandals can secure promotion this weekend if results go their way.
Barnsley v Vandals - Barnsley to give us a really tough game. Hope for a win and promotion!
Halifax v Northallerton - North will (I think) turn up ready to do a big job. Tough day at the office for fax. North by 3/4 tries.
Rotherham Phoenix v Castleford - Cas in a bit of a slump? Phoenix by 10.
Sheff Meds v WPL - West Park Leeds by 2 tries.
Skipton v Burley - I predicted Skip to pick up after Xmas but it doesn’t seem to have gone that way, still I’m backing them against Burley. Scrum dominance and fitness to decide it. Skip by 7.

Burley vs Castleford - Think Cas by 2 Tries.
Halifax vs Wheatley - I think Fax will have enough at home. Home win by 10.
Northallerton vs Halifax Vandals - Were taking a decent squad up the road. Got to back ourselves. Vandals Win.
Sheffield Medics vs Rotherham Phoenix - Pheonix seem to be picking up results. Away Win.
Skipton vs Barnsley - Skip should be way higher up the league based on both games they played against us. I think that will happen this second half of the season. Home Win.
Thirsk vs West Park Leeds. Thirsk by not a lot.

Vandals 46-13 Halifax
A sociable draw it was not.
Full blooded derby game it was. Halifax had an energetic start and after 20mins were 3-6 up. Then Vandals got warmed up and started to put some stuff together. Halifax captain got 10 in the bin for a no arms tackle and Vandals capitalised with a try and a penalty to close the half up 13-6.
The second half Halifax were up the slope and were starting to tire. Vandals got a quick try and took some sting out of the Fax boys. Vandals got total control of the scrum and lineouts and kept Halifax in their own half for the majority of the second half. Scores kept coming off the back of scrum penalties and quick hands through the backs. Halifax reminded everyone they can be a problem with a well taken quick tap to get a conciliation try. But the game was gone by then.
Bit of a sour end to the game and Vandals had a man sent off for head contact but all in all a good day at the office.

Vandals Vs Halifax* 😉
Tough game away at Skipton yesterday. They hadn’t played in a while and were definitely ready for it. They had the better of the half with strong carries through the centre channels. And were up 10-3 at half time.
Vandals had set piece dominance throughout the game and finally got some reward from the ref for it in the second half. That translated to being in the skipton half a lot more. With the wind and Vandals fronting up more it took a toll on the Skipton defence.
Only really took control of the game in the last 10mins with a try and two long penalties. 17 unanswered points got us the win.
Ended up 10-20.
Can’t wait to host the Fax lads and supporters to start the new year.

Always thought clubs were meant to honour a first team fixture and seconds if possible?

Vandals built on the result from last week with an even better performance against Wheatley this week. Good game played in the right spirit. Centenary celebrations at the club this weekend have been a success too.
