Because my local side Barnsley we’re away, I took the short trip to watch Ossett V Grotts.

As predicted, Knottingley were there usual aggressive self. Completely different back line to the team against my boys Barnsley but still strong none the less.

Ossett weren’t a great team and Grotts took advantage of that. Knottla backs ran them ragged for 80 mins and the forwards equally matched. Ossett much the bigger side but due to lack of heart, could t push Grotts back at set peice time.

Knottla to be up there in top 2/3 at the end of season. Ossett mid table at best.

If I’m not mistaken, casting my mind back to last season before COVID halted everything, didnt Wibsey refuse to travel to Knottingley on that occasion also? Something suspect going on there? Possibly heard of Knottingleys rough reputation and thought it wasn’t for them? Hopefully somebody from the club can clear this up

Had a gander down to my local ground today to watch Barnsley V Knottingley.

FT Barnsley 26- 3 Knottingley

Knottingley much the stronger team in the first half until they lost their starting 12 & 13 to injury and the angry 15 to a yellow card. Knottingley goal kicker missed plenty of opportunities to give Knottingley the lead before finally slotting a penalty. Barnsley scored a well worked try with last play of the half.

Barnsley much more organised in the second half and Knottingley depleted by injuries, Barnsley camped in their half without capitalising. Knottingley getting frustrated tried to fight everyone and everything to swing momentum their way. Finally it was Barnsley’s fitness that won them the game with 3 tries in the last ten minutes.

Game much closer than score suggests and was slightly ruined for both teams with a whistle happy ref. Barnsley to win the league but Knottingley to be up the top end of table aswell.

Otliensians 17 - 31 Skipton

Have skipton splashed the cash or have OOs lost players? Don’t think anyone would’ve predicted that result

Selby 23 - 8 Pontefract

Very different story second half. Selby dominated every aspect of the last 40 mins both up front and in the backs. Could be a very long season for Pontefract.

Not sure the 12 for Selby is worth the 10k they’re paying him per season. Not bad, but not worth the $$

Selby 8 V 8 Ponte at HT

Not a bad first half tbh

Ponte are dominating set pieces but Selby have the better backs. Ponte draft in desperate need of a fly half now the very attractive Mr Boyd has retired. Lad playing 10 is very poor.

Aire V Cas - Is anyone bothered really?! Cas but only just

Pythons V Vandals - Pythons big pack to win this, backs not going to get much of a look in I'm afraid

Hemsworth V Roth - Probably the most boring game of the season as a neutral. Hemsworth an awful side, and Rotherham Barry any better. Home win though.

Corinths V Skipton - Skipton worst team in league by far coming up against the form team. Cricket score for Leeds here

Otley V Grottley - Very close game. Knottla to have 12 missing and be cheated out of it by referee. Close home win.

Ossett V Meds - going for Meds after last weeks result. Ossett not great, and students to run them all over.

Baildon V Wibsey - Going to venture across and watch this local-ish derby Saturday. Hoping for a bruising close game with plenty of backs play. Going for a home win but not by too many

Now I'm back from 4 weeks in Tenerife, let's get the forum banter going again, it's been a bit dry if I'm honest.

Vandals V Aire - Vandals easy, but who's really interested?

Knottla V Hems - Hemsworth a very awful team of fat blokes and terrible backs. Knottla win, but not by as many as others are saying.

Phoenix V Pythons - Pythons to steam roll Roth through the middle with their big pack. Phoenix are poor with an occasional decent result. But not this week.

Medics V Otley - Mid table snooze fest. Students to get taught a lesson with most of them not back from xmas break.

Skipton V Ossett - Ossett to win if they can be bothered to travel over to Skipton. Don't blame them if they don't, it's hardly going to be an exciting game with attacking flair. Skipton worst team I've seen this season.

Wibsey V Leeds - If Wibsey can ring round and find a team, they'll still get hammered. Leeds too good

Cas V baildon - Baildon to win this one. Cas are extremely average with one or two decent players at best. Baildon a decent side and very dangerous if you give the fullback running room

especially as it seems I have been to more knottingley games than you this season

Does this mean you're the new Fenton Fat Back?!?
I can be whoever you want me to be if you'll clear up the rumours surrounding your coaches resignation after the Corinthians defeat

Vandals V Wibsey - Vandals to take this with home advantage. Close game!

Corinths V Hemsworth - Easy win for leeds. Could be a cricket score. Hemsworth up there with Aire as worst team in league and will not relish the trip across to downtown Syria. The gypsie camp next to the pitch is enough to scare any away team.

Ossett V Otley - if Otleys backs can get some ball on the farmers field they should take the win. Ossett are no pushovers though. Otley just for me.

Phoenix V Cas - Does anybody really care who finishes higher up in mid table out of these??

Medics V Aire - Medics with home advantage

Skipton V Gate - Battle of the packs! Harrogate to take the win if their players can be bothered to travel across to Skipton. If not, they'll probably still win. Skipton are poor.

Grotts V Baildon - I'm going to go for an away win here. Knottla lads to be too depressed after being robbed last week and will be struggling with injuries after what I saw last week. Big 8 pulled a hamstring it seemed and the little old 9 snapped his finger. Heard a rumour from my friend at Pontefract that the knottingley coach has resigned. Are the wheels coming off after their National Cup exit??
fat *wat put your
Money where your mouth is, and it’s a big mouth, rumours are a terrible thing. Wheels on the Bus and all
Don't shoot the messenger Fonetone, I can only go off what was said to me. But I'm glad you cleared that up quickly that the coach hasn't resigned. A quick note though about how defensive you get when anyone dare make a comment about Grotts, especially as it seems I have been to more knottingley games than you this season

I would just like to clarify my comments regarding the referee today as I think he's getting some unfair comments. I thought he had a fantastic game for both teams and picked up on a lot of things around the ruck which would have normally gone unpunished.

The two big decisions in the game, knots red and knots push over try, I do believe he got wrong 100%. But I don't want that to fully dictate the fact that the referee was vigilant and fair for the rest of the game.

Referees are an integral part of all players getting a game in on a Saturday and the game couldn't go ahead without them. So unless people are willing to take the whistle up themselves, I don't believe we can ref bash as much as people are doing today

Leeds 19 - 13 Knotts

Have to say a great game to watch as a neutral spectator. As expected, a very forwards dominated game with a bit of backs flair thrown in. Very evenly matched teams and game played in great spirits.

HOWEVER, I don't like Grotts as much as the next bloke but they will feel very much robbed by the referee today. A red card early in the second half which was yellow at best. Huge hit from knottla flanker and opposing player dumped on his back. Ref deemed he landed on his head some how, but definitely was not the case.

Leeds were 6 points up with 2 mins left and knottla scored a fantastic push over try, which the referee claimed he didn't see, even though all the crowd and Leeds players agree that the try was scored. But I suppose you win some and you lose some.

As I said before, a fantastic game for the neutral with some hurrendous referee decisions.

Can't wait to hear Fenton's take on the game

Leeds V Knottla is finally upon us again.

I shall be making the short trip across to the bomb site that is Middleton tomorrow to watch the greatest amateur rugby game ever played, part two. My gut feeling is that the alcoholic crowd of Leeds chanting for 80 minutes will see Corinths victorious with home advantage. But I'm predicting a close game. Not sure how many players Grottla have missing this week but I'm sure they will tell us all they practically played with their second team no doubt. Either way, I'm expecting a huge battle of the forwards with the backs spectating most of the game. Whichever team controls their aggression and gives away the least penalties will take the spoils.

Hopefully meet a few of the forum gents in the clubhouse afterwards for a pint, if they're buying

Spoken to a friend of mine who watched the knottla v Cas game. Castleford were 3_0 up at half time but the conditions dictated the game. Knottingley made a change or two at half time which seemed to give the knottingley boys the kick up he ar** they were looking for. Looking forward to spectating the battle of the council estates next week in the national cup. As we've been promised, it seems as though the game of the season belongs to the Middleton Massive at home to the Worms. Stay posted for the updates
