Don’t think to for the tackle think it’s for the the player on the refs side coming in from the side.

Watch the ref looking round the player then the arm comes up.

I've watched it time and time again and just can't see an offence? But if it's from the side fair enough...

Just to be clear I'm not being critical of the ref. I'm just trying to broaden my knowledge of the laws.

Are you assuming the Ref made a/the correct call?

Well I'd be interested to hear views. It might be a marginal call he got wrong ...if so we just move on. We all make mistakes.

Or it might be I don't understand all the laws and the correct interpretation and if that's the case I'd like to learn.

Thoughts?

I can’t see an offence either.  Both Scarbs players joining the breakdown come from at least 6 feet back, both it appears ‘through the gate’ one just touches player’s back & then retreats; has he joined the ruck? ...... but, I’ve never reffed a game so what do I know ?  Great result however

I can’t see anything near an offence. My only thought is he doesn’t like the tackle (100% legal imo) and it’s a delayed reaction to that? Wrong decision but we all make mistakes.

Classic case of referees seeing something a little out the ordinary (a really good massive hit), so they guess there must be an offence.

What’s frustrating is the refs guess work may have seen him dish out a card. Or worse give the opposition a shot at goal which could influence the game.

Wouldn’t be a game without them though....

Which would (should) be an automatic red .. odd.

Let's just say an honest mistake. A harmless push might have looked worse from behind.
