RL is desperate for revenue and need a showpiece final at Wembley with a full house to maximum their gate money and to get good long term sponsorship and tv contracts for the cup.

Perhaps they now see the folly of trying to accomodate overseas teams.

But to say you can enter our cup competition but you have to pay half a million £££s ??

I see the Yorkshire Cup is being eagerly fought over again this season.
3 out of the 4 qtr final games now a walkover.

When are the YRFU going to save everyone the trouble of planning for games that are likely going to get shelved?

That's 24 confirmed walkovers in the Cups so far this season and Redcar/Roundhegians down as postponed so a likely 25.

And still the RFU say cups are the way to go.

Ilkley just blobbed on Gate, so Yorkshire cup semis all with teams that have yet to play in the cup

This year's competition should be immediately scrapped....it is bringing dishonour to the fine tradition.
Loving all rugby but especially at grassroots level.

14 team leagues and cup comps. This is a broken record that is now boring. How much longer do we have to keep pretending that " this year it'll be fine"?

Well, that's 25 walkovers now.

And that includes at least one club who were asking for 12 team leagues AND Cup comps.

B&B pull out of Ilkley away match *shock horror* - can’t raise a front row to take on the might of the Ilkley pack. Yeah, right.

Any comment on why Ilkley pulled out and how it differs from B&B's decision in November?

Not so.
Sandal thumped Morley in the 1st rd.

Odd behaviour on Ilkley's part considering the article in the local rag.

Read elsewhere that they have a prop playing in Yorkshire U20s on Sunday.

My apologies to Sandal
One prop playing u20's on Sunday shouldn't make a cancellation. Are there no props in the 2's or your usual bench cover prop?
If it was a league game would it be cancelled?

Plenty of u20's players play club rugby on Sat and then u20's on Sunday

Perhaps a good example of not criticising others who have to forfeit a fixture as it comes back to bite you.

It is potentially dangerous to have some second/third team prop up against a semi professional prop in the gym twice a week as well as training.

We should have forfeited a league game but a couple of lads gave the front row a go and we were on the end of a spanking and could have led to serious injury. There comes a point when you have to protect players completely and make a difficult decision. Ilkley will not have taken this decision lightly, they haven't a history of bobbing.

Again though, we shouldn't be criticising people for pulling out of a cup competition. Lads see free weekends in the calender and organise stuff.
