Incredible day at Silver Royd today. What a crowd - it was way in excess of 1000. The photo below shows the 400+ seater stand all but full.

The local support certainly did its part today as did both sides who put on a cracker. Huge respect to B&B who came here to put up a real fight and not roll over. They had 3 or 4 players back who were missing last week and it made them a tough nut to crack. Their winger is one of the best outside backs I've seen for a long time.

Scarborough never looked like losing and it didn't take too long to get a bonus point - but B&B came back strongly keeping the ball very well and scoring some well worked tries.

Sadly Douglas (IOM) didn't show the same fighting spirit that B&B did - putting in (what I imagine) was a pretty spineless performance to lose 85-0 at Blackburn. Or are Blackburn really that good? We'll find out on the 27th April.

I actually think that it says a lot about Yorkshire rugby that B&B came and played the way they did.

As for our boys - what a season. Every one of them has been outstanding. Another 17 year old colt got his first start in the 2nd row today and did a wonderful job. Whatever happens in two weeks time, things are looking good at Silver Royd.

The young ref from Sheffield was excellent and didn't feel the need to prove his manhood by showing a succession of yellow cards.

Good company beforehand from B&B officals.

Thanks to everyone for their company, hospitality, banter and friendship this year. We will probably see you next season but if not maybe the season after!

Well I started feeling sorry for Blackburn when they lost the points scored against de la salle through no fault of their own.
This was enhanced by your use of the word “spineless” in commenting on their opponents today.

You obviously didn't read what I said about our opponents today.

I'll buy you a Blackburn scarf and you can cheer them on.

Congratulations Scarborough and commiserations to Bridlington. A real and rapid changing of the East Coast guard completed.

Very similar position of Douglas and Bees in North One West and East, yet one was marmalised and the other continued the close and competitive Eastern league form.

Despite not gaining home advantage, I do think a team that has achieved what Scarbs have in a very tough and close division will put them as favourites against a team that has had it their own way in a weaker field.

A heartfelt best of luck from Barnsley
