We need Stella to do his magic and work out which one has the shortest overall travel distance.
Using Google maps - i think the RFU use some old fashioned map variant.
Google says Broughton Park. (See below)

                     Burnage   Broughton
1. Scarborough       125   124
2. Morley                   50   49
3. Hudds Y.M.C.A.   37   33
4. Percy Park         159   158
5. York                   84   83
6. Bradford & Bingley   55   54
7. Driffield                   111   110
8. Pocklington            96    95
9. Malton and Norton   104   102
10. Cleckheaton   45   44
11. Moortown           60   59
12. Durham City   139   138
13. West Hartlepool   133   132
                        1198   1181

On your calculations too close to call I think.

Looking at the teams looks a cracking league next season though.

It shows how the Leeds based clubs win every time on travel - but they can't help where they live. Although it does mean their thoughts on restructuring has less validity.

You would like Broughton Park seriously posh.

One of the oldest clubs in uk I think several former internationals.

It gets better.
Based on the RFU's calculations using shortest route, we have another candidate. I give you Kendal.

1. Scarborough     126
2. Morley              72
3. Hudds Y.M.C.A.  76
4. Percy Park         98
5. York                  88
6. B&B                  60
7. Driffield           143
8. Pocklington      107
9. M&N                107
10. Cleckheaton    70
11. Moortown       69
12. Durham City   82
13. W. H'pool       87
                        1185

Now, i stress these are the 'shortest' routes. No one would choose these routes due to them including a lot of single lane A roads and thus adding serious time to each journey. If, and i stress if, the RFU decide on Kendal i suspect a serious appeal being lodged. Both Broughton and Burnage have a handful of shorter journey's.

I agree, especially when you throw Kendal into the mix. However, Google usually gives you three options so i choose the shortest as the default. If their isn't much in the options then i sometimes look at the the 'best' option but always mindful of RFU shortest route policy.

They always appeal.

However I understand that Penrith volunteered last time....

1357 miles this time so doubt they'll volunteer.

They had the pretty formidable front row in my day of Harris, Pacey and O Hara which was simply outstanding and taught a young aspiring hooker a thing or two, also had Kevin O'Brien (ex North and Ireland full back) but drifted down the leagues of late. I believe Blackheath are one of the oldest club followed by Liverpool.

Nice Place Broughton Park you'll enjoy it

They also had Tony Neary England and the Lions.

They did drift down when the game went open don’t think they managed that transition well.

I’m told they have an outstanding junior set up but loose many of those players when they head off to uni. Certainly know in greater Manchester for spending money on supporting and developing the game.

As you say nice club and NE1 clubs would enjoy the visit and be well looked after.
