Top of the table clash as Hegians welcomed Rish to Roundhay for what promised to be an evenly matched contest but apart from a quick start from the home side the men from Copley dominated the large majority of the match.

It appears Rish have learned well from their opening week drumming to Wheatley Hills as their forwards set the platform for the dominance with a strong set-piece, strong go forward in OpenPlay and ruthless defence. This gave the dangerous Rish backs plenty of opportunity to attack and spread the play wide which they exploited to good extent.

Nevertheless, Hegians seemed to get a second wind in the last 10 minutes even though the victory had gone from them and snatched a bonus point with a well taken penalty. The score line did not necessarily reflect the dominance from Rish and  Hegians maintain their top of the table status (for now).

The inconsistency in Y2 results is surely an indicator of the different squads clubs are having to field week on week and is representative of the stark difference between Y1 & Y2. My money for promotion contenders is the club who can keep the same 18 names on the team sheet each weekend to gain momentum and fluency as the season progresses.

Ribb 30 Yarnbury 39 Ribb well beaten by Yarnbury, fairly poor performance  although the forwards were competitive however the backs struggled against their lively opposite numbers. Only two late converted tries made the score look respectable. Michael Thwaite was 100% with his goalkicking (3pens 3cons)
