So what if they are paying him? Brid haven't signed the amateur declaration. They can do what they like. I'm sure you pay your barman at Beverley and no one complains about that do they? Get over it, the game is open now.

Funnily enough, we don’t. He’s an absolute lad and does it as an amateur! What a top bloke he is. Life and soul of the club.

Bloody hell... The amount you draw out of the club like previous highly paid coaches i.e. Junior T on £35k a year but you don't pay your barman. Hmmm...no wonder youve dropped 4 leagues and have no players...

Tough fought game at Springhead Lane today, Brid worthy winners in the end. Perhaps the scoreline flattered them a little, but take nothing away from them. Probably have invested enough to stay in Y1. We will continue to fight to the bitter end, as we always have.  Reffed ok by the young 17 year old, I wish him well in his refereeing career. We’ll leave the authorities to deal with the unsavoury language at the end of the game.

On to our plight. We’ve probably been fighting above our weight for a number of years now, and have haemorrhaged quality year on year, and been unable to replace it. Hullensians, unfortunately, isn’t quite the attractive proposition as some of our more illustrious neighbours, which makes it difficult to attract quality to go alongside our juniors and stalwarts!

Add to that a couple of long term injuries, the retirement of our experienced scrum half, and the loss of our captain and player of the year last year to Ionians 2nd team (plus a large chunk of cash).

Whilst on the subject of £, today one of Brid’s centres lives a stones throw away from Springhead Lane yet travels over an hour away to play for Brid (and a reported £200 per game fee). I don’t blame him, just a sad sad state of affairs with the current game at this level.

As for the rest of the season, we will give it our all to pick up as many points as possible, starting with a local derby at Beverley next week!

Some interesting points..

But why is it sad that someone travels to receive payment? Isn't it just like a weekend job? Why is it so controversial? If he didn't make money from rugby be might have a milk round, or do more hours in a office or go shopping with his Mrs/Mr. What is the obsession with payment??

Crocs 43-Selby 7

A 6 try romp from a Crocs side on top form which Selby simply had no answer to and were made to look extremely average.
Pressure kicks from Crocs and resulting Selby back 3 errors of judgement led to the first three tries and at 21-0 at half time it was almost game over. Crocs forward play was impressive although Selby as expected came with a fairly decent scrum.

Great 80 metre interception debut try in the second half for Crocs
young winger promoted from the Second XV .

Crocs are starting to look good on the eye and the club is finally on the up it seems after a few years of freefall from being a mainstay of North East 1 to back to back relegation and barely surviving in Yorks 2. . Firsts on a 4 game winning streak and the Seconds on a 10 game winning streak.
The struggle at Crocs has always been a lack of junior setup bar a couple of teams here and there..making quality first team recruitment/player replacement difficult.
On that note a mention needs to be made to our Captain, Jack Hammond on his 300th Crocs First XV appearance today, quality effort and commitment to the club through good and difficult times.
The current form and recent bashing of Heath at home makes next weekends local derby at Brods very appetising.
What an advert for Halifax rugby if the top 3 Yorks 1 teams were Brods, Crocs and Heath in no particular order come season close of play. 😎

Massive respect to Heath for not only fulfilling their fixture but winning it.

A world class medical and conditioning team has clearly been employed this week to get unfit front rowers fit in the space of a week.

The "obsession" is clearly around the fact that silly people are paying silly money to players who are not good enough to receive payment, how can that possibly be good for the game. I also very much doubt whether someone would travel from Anlaby to Bridlington in a milk float so your attempt at mitigation is also flawed :)

No and neither did our captain/hooker.Chris Moore returned from a stag weekend.so although we have a first class physio set up,it had no bearing on any of our 3 normal first team returning from injury.
