Their first available alternative date is now May 8th !

Surely they cannot continue like this.

League restructure isn't going to help B&B. Only thing that will help them is playing at a level that is a true reflection of the clubs current crop of home grown players, which clearly isn't NE1!

However if they have been sitting on this seasons player budget as suggested earlier in the season, then they should be in for a very quick bounce back.

Is the players budget the main problem at Bees?
Did this not get them into the farce they are in now  ?

I thought a HWO was 4 points/+20 win ? At least you don’t have to play on May 8th !

No it's a 5 point win. Otherwise you could have a situation where the top 2 are playing the last game of the season and 1 team is 4 points ahead with a big enough points difference. They could just default and take the title. Not getting the chance for that point would be unfiar. The +20 points represents the 4 trys needed for the BP

Thanks for that - it was a relevant point, as it is Ilkley’s last game of the season, nominally at least.

You can’t play any level if you’re not able to muster 18 players on a Saturday. Disgrace.

B&B are a disgrace to rugby in West Yorkshire and there is no defense for the situation they find themselves in. I feel sorry for the long serving loyal supporters who turn up hoping to see some sort of improvement but the reality is the people who run this club are an anathema to the people they perpetrate to represent. A once great club brought to it's knees by imbeciles who think they know best and quite obviously don't.
Never argue with an idiot, he'll bring you down to his level and beat you with experience!

Its mainly very sad. They have clearly lived beyond their means for several years, presumably with the help of benefactors when they were available.

I'm not sure how the total club is constituted but the limited company has no particular assets and has been technically insolvent for the last two accounting periods.

There seems to be a small number of adults in multiple roles at the club.

On the plus side they say they have a thriving youth section which is something to build from.

As ever there are two ways out of this. Firstly is slower but very rewarding and sustainable. The other is quick, unfulfilling and likely to find themselves in the same place again in years to come. I don't need to spell out what the two routes are, we all know.

So if you are a wealthy chap or lady and you are approached to invest in B&B, say yes. We want rugby clubs to do well.  However make sure you only invest in the fabric of the club and facilities, that will pay dividends over and over (but sadly may not satisfy some investor egos!)

Good luck B&B, I wish you all the best for the coming the years. I'm sure you will be back.

League restructuring won’t make any difference. Modern players look at the league dates and expect to be playing those Saturdays, on blank weeks they plan family time, winter holidays, etc.
