Fantasy League Week 1 Predictions
« on: August 31, 2022, 10:41:12 PM »
Well, someone's got to start it off, so I might as well annoy people from week one. Looking to moderators Ribbex and Gateprop to verify/validate this as ok and of course run the scoring if we get enough interest:

Rugrats v Old Farmers: Another year older and wiser for the kiddikins, with some exciting new signings and pre-season outings. Maybe the same for the sheep sha**ers, but got to go for home win. Ripon + 7

Pie Men v Saints: Big beardy chaps to grind the chilli eaters into the postage stamp pitch. Solid home win. Wath + 7

Cheesy wotsits v Slytherin: Can the clean cut sophisticates hold their own with the mullet mob? Flowing locks envy may gift the hosts a narrow win. Dale - 7

Wheatos v Barn doors: Going to be an interesting "south of the patch" clash. Think barno may want to prove more here, so Barnsley -7

Yawno v Mount Doom: Sea anglers simply have to do something special on their magic carpet to subdue the bad boy chiller crew. Yarnbury +7

Is the Bramley v Northallerton game going ahead? If so, would be good to see a Phoenix Rising start to the season - 7 if it happens.

May take me a while to get used to the nicknames being thrown around on here! Here goes:

Ripon v North Ribblesdale - 2 teams I’ve never come up against before so going with home advantage here. Ripon +7

Wath Upon Dearne v Leeds Corinthians - a full strength Corinthians side will be a handful for anyone but they tend not to travel as well. Wath -7

Wensleydale v Harrogate Pythons - always a good set of lads so looking forward to this. Being so follicly challenged myself I hope the mullet envy doesn’t distract me too much. Always back yourselves Pythons +7

Wheatley Hills v Barnsley - again never seen Wheatley Hills before so will back Barnsley given how strong they were last year. Barnsley -7

Yarnbury v Baildon - Baildon won this fixture fairly comfortably last season so will go for a repeat here. Baildon -7

New to York’s 2 format but here goes, Bramley v north Allerton next month.
Ripon v North Rib - both unknown to me so go with home advantage Ripon -7
Wath v Leeds Corinthians- not sure if all the league players will be back for Leeds so wath -7
Wensleydale v Harrogate- I know Harrogate and not Wensleydale so think it will be another good season for gate on way to 1. Gate +7
Wheatley hill v Barnsley- same as above Barnsley +7
Yarn bury v Baildon  - I am sure our 🕵???? will be out for this one baildon -7 should be a tight game

Welcome back all - everyone on best behaviour for the first weekend please...

Rugrats vs Sensitive Souls
No bad language from the side lines and whatever you do don't mention W****dale... Farmers weekly has the Rugrats as favourites in the early season clash as Ribb are tending to their harvest. Ripon +7

Pie Eaters vs WWW WDs
The eagerly awaited return of the leagues favourite pundit, after a summer off I'm looking forward to more of WWW's insights. Without their League mercenaries Wath should be too much at home on their cabbage patch. Wath -7

Wotsits vs Tarquins
Excellent contest between the mullets and moules mariniere. Similar problems to the 'other 'Dale' I suspect here with availability leading to an early season win for the hooray henrys. 'Gate -7

Wheatos vs Brawno
The style of play for this match could be described as 'agricultural' if you were being polite. With no intent to utilise the firm ground and running conditions the ball will rarely make it out of the exceptionally well-padded mitts of the respective packs. DRAW

Aladdin vs Beverly Hills of Bradford
The magic carpet won't be enough to save the Anglers this time round as the money men from £aildon run riot in boots padded out with £20 notes. Noisy neighbours for the win in this one (but look what happened to bees...) Baildon +7

Cheers chaps, be good to keep this up all season.

Thanks Ribbex, appreciate your circumstances. I have never understood the scoring system, hence probably why I have always been at the bottom of the pile, so if anyone else with the mental agility to run the table, it will be much appreciated.

Wheatley to beat Barnsley no show. That's a banker but hope Barnsley get sorTed quickly.
