After a week with a couple of postponements last week we're back up to a full compliment of fixtures for Round 3. I didn't manage to get to a game last week so my predictions are purely based on results but would keen to hear the thoughts of those more in the know.

B&B vs Dronfield
Bees after a surprising performance week 1 struggled last week, is that a sign of things to come or are Brid and their new recruits starting to gel. Dronfield still the great unknown, down to 14 men by against Scabs to take a losing BP is nothing to be laughed at. Dronfield have to get a win here or they could be in some trouble, away win (close one).

Old Brods vs Brid
Two close wins against teams they'd expect to beat comfortably for the Brods but a derby win is a derby wins, my spies tell me Crocs coughed up chances to take the game though. Brid after a slip up in week 1 too strong here. Bridlington to take the spoils on the hill.

Pock vs Crocs
Both teams without a win and will want to get on the board early for their own fights at either end of the table. Pock to bounce back after a week off to regroup after the opening result to Moortown, comfortable win.

Ponte vs Morley
Ponte with two tough losses against teams many would have thought too strong, is this the week they take the next step? With Morley not playing last week I'm backing Ponte to take the spoils. Close and high scoring, bonus points all round.

Scabs vs Moortown
Scarborough always a tough place to get a result with 5 points there on week one can they turn Silver Royd into a fortress again? Moortown after two good wins I think will go and upset the seasiders, losing BP for Scabs.

Selby vs Malton and Norton
Malton with two high scoring games without putting anyone to bed yet before the season I imagine they'd have been eyeing up 5 points here but is Selby's opener is anything to go by it won't be so straight forward. If the rumours are true about the 9/10 being missing at Selby last week being the reason to postpone then I hope the rugby gods shine on M&N but going with the underdogs in this one Selby to make it 2-0 to start the year.

B&B vs Dronfield. Terrible result for Bees last week, possibly a few injuries and non travellers but can't see that result turning around. Dronfield still unknown. Away win
Old Brods vs Brid. Home win, but anything possible. How do you read Brid's two results.
Pock vs Crocs. Comfotable home win.
Ponte vs Morley. MOTD for me. Ponte put in good, albeit penalty strewn performances, so far. Not an easy start and this one is no easier. Close, but away win with bonus points for Ponte.
Scabs vs Moortown. Last week Moortown played some good rugby but struggled against Ponte's big scrum. Fancy them to do well this time, close away win.
Selby vs Malton and Norton. Along with Pock, Selby should be fresh after using the guidelines to have a disappointing week off due to unavailability. First day result a real coupon buster but fancying a comfortable away win.

B&B v Dronfield – Both teams need a win could go either way. Going for a home win.

Old Brods v Brid – Don’t think Brid’s Southern Hemisphere visitors will cope with the mountains and the Hipperholme slope so home win.

Pock v Old Crocs – Think Pock will have a few back from farming close win for Pock but with Crocs getting a bonus point.

Ponte v Morley – Hardest of all to predict, met a Ponte member at Headingley (cricket) told they have players back & it’s the players reunion lunch so I expect lots of vocal support for the home side. So if Ponte can reduce their penalty count just favor a home win.

Scar v Town – Comfortable win for Moortown.

Selby v M&N – Told Selby think they are better than last season so a high scoring home win.

I just hope both Selby and Pocklington are emotionally stable enough this week to be able to field a side.

Yes big win for Moortown today beating Scarborough something like 59-19.

Very impressed with Moortown with some good strong running backs.

Their 2nd team supporters coach full were loud and boisterous but from I could see and hear were good natured and just happy to support their winning team. An improvement on last year.

Pontefract 28-10 against Morley . Pontefract looked comfortably the better side … dominant at scrum in particular .

excellent referee .. penalty count in favour of Morley particularly at breakdown .

really good spirited game .. lovely surroundings and nice  atmosphere in an old school way in Pontys ageing clubhouse .  … not much to find disagreeable about the occasion .

I was on the Balcony for the full 80 minutes. Fantastic atmosphere with the Scabs fans. One person who was recorded on the fans GoPro was very unbecoming of a rugby fan but that did not reflect the Scabs contingent. Any team would be lucky to have their 10 and with such a young side they will win plenty of games.

Familiar pattern. Scabs take a thumping = pick holes with the opposition’s conduct/crowd/language/facilities … yawn.

Couldn’t be further from the truth, I also spent the full 80 on the balcony and enjoyed my afternoon trading laughs with the only Scarborough supporter willing to cheer on his side. After the game was finished he wished us well and I hope to see him in the reverse fixture.

I thought seaside towns were meant to be happy places!

No complaints from me. Other than the scoreline (from our perspective) it's was a good day for rugby. Busy lunch, large crowd, good atmosphere and some entertaining stuff on show.

The young Moortown team completely deserved their victory and they had a quite an array of talent on show.

Regulars to Silver Royd will have noted it was a particularly challenging week for selection but good a fight was put up by the team on the day.

I think Moortown may fade a little in the heavier grounds but they will certainly be top four at the end of season and have every chance of going up.

After two narrow losses a well-deserved home win for Ponte. A much better penalty count, although they do seem to struggle at the breakdown. Morley unable to cope with Ponte's pack so reverted to wheeling at every opportunity. Unsure why the ref didn't penalise them. That said, an excellent ref who I was told after the game, talked to the players not down to them.
On this performance Ponte should do ok. Interesting fixture next week as they visit Crocs, who are struggling.
