I am chair at North Ribblesdale and I can unequivocally say you have our vote. I do not do facebook so cannot log in to it to offer some support. Maybe someone more in touch with the 21st century could make our feelings known. If our two reps will not change their vote I say we should get them off the council and get some people onto it who actually care about the community game.

Hopefully we get at least 4 yorkshire clubs to follow the CCU guidance and either get our 2 yorkshire reps to vote to recind this law change, or we get them removed and replaced with 2 new reps who will do so.

(In my oppinion it should be mandortory in the future that any law change that differentiates between different levels of the game, in essence creating 2 different sports, would need a majority vote from the actuall clubs)
I've set the wheel in motion at our club but i don't have final say.

Here's the info from the CCU to get things moving against the RFU - and the CB representatives if that's what it takes.
From the Telegraph.
Momentum is building towards a vote of no confidence in Bill Sweeney, the chief executive of the Rugby Football Union, with close to 250 clubs now in support of a special general meeting (SGM) in the wake of the governing body’s move to implement new tackle laws.

Community Clubs Union (CCU), an independent organisation launched just three days ago in response to last Monday’s announcement on the lowering of the legal tackle height in the community game, has spearheaded the campaign.

They are hoping today to reach final sign-off on a letter requesting the SGM, which requires the support of at least 100 members of the union, and are coordinating the process of collecting letters from each dissenting club. There were 246 of these as of 8am on Thursday.

These letters must be signed by a chairperson and a secretary, and CCU is mindful of the need to be accurate in their wording because previous attempts to call them have “fallen apart at the last minute” because of technical difficulties.

An interesting article from someone who was involved with French rugby during their trial. Well worth a read - unless you are part of the RFU then you might want to have a serious word with yourself.

Back peddling but still won't listen.

We apologise for the anger and concern created among the rugby community

The RFU Board, Council and executive staff apologise for the anger and concern that has been created among the rugby community by announcing the decision to lower the tackle height from next season.

In our desire to act quickly to reduce head impacts and concussions in the community game, which represents 99% of the rugby playing population in England, we have upset many of you who are the champions, volunteers, and ambassadors of our game. We fully acknowledge we got the engagement wrong, and we are truly sorry.

In making our decision we were aware that France have lowered the tackle height, New Zealand will be doing so and World Rugby supports this approach.

We, like the French, used the term “waist and below”; this has caused misunderstanding and confusion. We would now like the game to help us define how we describe a lower tackle height to reflect what the research is telling us in a way that is understood by all. Consequently, the risk of head injuries should be reduced if tackling below that optimum height. We will now begin a series of forums and workshops with players, coaches, match officials and volunteers, to explain and develop the details of the domestic law variation.

A large body of scientific evidence (links to documents below) demonstrates the risk of head injury and concussion for players can be reduced by lowering the tackle height to prevent head on head contact. However, we also accept that the rugby community has other concerns that this change may bring and we need to listen, understand and respond to those concerns. We will start inviting players, coaches, match officials and volunteers to these forums from early next week, so that we can all work together.

This doesn’t happen.

Balancing representation the RFU and Clubs/Constituent Body (CB)
It is important to acknowledge that members of the Council have a responsibility to represent the clubs and CBs that elected them, and would be expected to represent those issues and views as appropriate within the RFU. This is a vital role.

Job description of a CB RFU Council member.

Perhaps a more sensible approach to the concern over concussion would have been-
1. We are concerned about tackling and height of entry.
2. We propose having a trial at XYZ CB.
3. We will start this on 1st July 2024.
4. We will issue stats. After the season has finished.
5. Simple.

Agree with above fredsbar.

In addition I would like to see them put forward a change to the constitution of the rfu board along the lines of - Any changes to the laws of the game that differentiate between different levels of the adult game would require a majority vote of all the member clubs. The purpose of this being to prevent us going down the route of one version of Rugby at Pro level and "rugby light" at amauter level.

Cant see the suits liking it as it would take away a bit of their power but it would stop the slippy slope in its tracks.

Thats all fine BUT our representatives have NOT consulted their members. They have voted for something that (I believe) the vast majority of clubs would be against. In my eyes that is disrespectful to all the clubs they are supposed to represent and as such these people should be brought to task. Lets stop pussy footing around and let the collective voice of the clubs be heard and represented by people who care about our game and not biased against people who will vote as instructed by the hierarchy and not with the voice of the clubs they are supposed to represent. Its a sorry state of affairs.

Just had a look at the survey - what a farce.

It does not give you any opportunity to voice your opposition to the law change. Just merely looking at the wording of how they can ram this through whilst making you think that you have been consulted.
