If you mean i post more when we win, then yes guilty as charged.

Scarborough should have been 30 up at half time but Brid came.back strongly in the second half and could have gone either way.

Surprise result at Morley for brods away there. Morley 27-17 Brods. My previous statement of an easy win for the Brods goes out the window! It seems like Morley were fired up for this one and focused on the win. Out on the pitch at 12:30 I hear, raring to go. Morley is a tough place to go. I heard whispers of a controversial 3 point kick at goal from Brods that was disallowed by the referee, along with 2 disallowed tries which were also believed to have been tries? Not sure the ins and outs. However, even with the possible points taken away from brods there, would that have been enough to beat a ramped up Morley team at home? It seems all was right in Morley’s favour this afternoon.

I have avoided posting on here this season but felt the need to break my streak.

As secretary of Moortown RUFC I attended yesterdays game with my 12 year old son in tow.

I must say I was shocked just how poisonous the Crocs crowd were, in particular towards the referee.

It was a fiesty game but well “reffed” IMO, Moortown received 3 yellows for what now is considered high tackles. Absolutely no arguments from us and each card was spot on. I think Crocs got 4 but 2 of them were for the 8 who ended up getting a red with 10 minutes to go.

But that crowd, wow. And it most definitely spilled onto the pitch with Crocs giving away several penalties in the second half for back chat.

This was topped off by another Crocs red after the final whistle for dissent/ref abuse.

Far from what I was hoping to show my lad on an away day but we live and learn.

We can’t expect that Scarborough hospitality every week. For that reason alone I’m rooting for them to stay up.

As you know I've always been Moortowns number one fan so I'm glad the love is being reciprocated at last 🥰

What has changed at Scarborough? A losing bonus point and 4 wins on the bounce since new year?

The losing bonus point should have been a win.

I'm glad Scarboroughs improving form has motivated you to post for the first time in 9 years. Result!

Having now heard the details of the ref abuse I hope the player in question is suitably dealt with (harshly!)

We must bring out the worst in people following on from the Selby spitter.

Deafening silence this time round however defending the great Crocs and their well established rugby values.

Hmmmmm.

It would seem some clubs/players don't think they need to pay any attention to the RFU briefing issued on 1st Jan.
Looks like it is going to be a painful learning curve for them.

Congratulations to Moortown !  Old Crocs are formidable opponents on their own patch, so to win over there is a great result.  I am sorry to hear of the unsportsmanlike behaviour towards the referee at the end of the game. We have a shortage of referees in Yorkshire, and need to keep hold of the ones we've still got !

On Saturday 10.2.24 I watched Moortown 2 v Heath 2. It was a very open and competitive game, despite the muddy conditions. The score of 7 - 26 to Heath was probably about right. Heath were the much stronger team, but Moortown's young side never stopped trying.

It is over 20 years since I was last at Moortown. As a neutral, I enjoyed some banter with several of their members who were friendly and made me feel welcome. It's great to see the improvements which have been made at Moortown , both on and off the pitch, over the last few years.  Thank you for your hospitality. The spirit of rugby is very much alive at Far Moss. !

Dear Secretary of Moortown

Please feel free to contact me at ocrufc@outlook.com as secretary of Old Crossleyans.

I would have appreciated had you done this in the first place.

I wasn’t at the game due to work commitments but dare say there is some hot air on both sides over recent events.

There was last season’s fixture when some Moortown supporters attempted to assault the Old Crossleyans touch judge, if you recall this went to discipline as the referee had stopped the game and asked your coach to take steps to speak to the offenders.

Also this season’s original fixture when you attempted to have us deducted 5 points despite no agreement over the timing of a rearranged fixture.

I must also say, when your staff arrived at our club on Saturday I showed them to the kitchen where I personally provided them tea and coffee and even free biscuits, for which they seemed grateful and happy to receive.

It is however with a significant amount of disappointment that I heard no official or player of the club came into the clubhouse after the game.

As a club we have taken a hit, food, time and effort have gone to waste and for what.  I believe myself and my club have reached out the hand of friendship on Saturday and have been met with disrespect.

Please let’s not casually forget our own indiscretions when choosing to sling mud on a public forum.

Regards any issues on tackle height, these are technical issues and will be dealt with by the match officials.

Old Crossleyans Club and I will also always strongly condemn the abuse of match officials (see point re-last seasons assault above) and in addition to any sanction the YRFU pass down, the individual will also be dealt with internally.

If you wish to discuss this matter further I suggest you contact me at the email address provided.

Regards,
Ryan Price
Secretary
Old Crossleyans RUFC
