Congratulations to Harrogate, at half time after playing into the wind for 40 minutes it looked like the game was only going one way, and Harrogate would be staying in the league.
Unfortunately, Ilkleys, sorry Harrogates outside centre had other ideas. He was outstanding and his 4 tries, all fantastic individual efforts, got them on the front foot time and again.

Good luck to Gate next season, the rumoured £50k to put the pitch right might eat into the playing budget, but I’m sure they will throw everything at staying up!

Well I hope you can imagine how we all feel in Ilkley ! A bloody self-inflicted tragedy.

Fullback was quiet, but Dobson was pure class! Would have been a massive loss to any side in the league above, so certainly can imagine how you feel.

Harrogates Instagram Story this morning certainly shows the players had a great night celebrating, however a serious lack of class from whoever has been running it whilst tipsy, calling out Heath and York is poor.

"Gate" have always been classy and arrogant, even without drink. Much prefer the decent people at Pythons.

As a neutral, I thought that if Harrodsgate beat Duffield at Mudding Lane then maybe they deserve to go up, however, after seeing those Instagram posts I have changed my mind, it really does echo the general consensus that Harrodsgate are a set of mercenaries that are there for a paycheck and are utterly classless. Their attitude is nearly as wet as their pitch. I’d be embarrassed if I was a Harrogate supporter seeing those posts. I really do think they will get battered in National 2, as from what games I’ve seen of them, they are a one dimensional team and lack any flare. They will have to dig deeper into their drainage fund to buy a squad that may achieve the unlikely possibility of survival. The fact they asked Duffield to concede the game too is an absolute shambles also.

A fantastic day at York, the prematch lunch was rammed. The company was great and the rugby was open a nd free flowing, with two teams going for it.
I suppose a good example of the difference between the protagonists was York commissioned a charity shirt for the home side to wear this one game.
After the game the shirts were individually auctioned. Many players bidding for their own shirts with all the proceeds going to Menfulness a local based charity for male mental health. A few thousand pounds being raised by the auction.
So all in all a great day to reflect on.
If the money men at Heath need counseling they can advantage of this service.
As for Harrogate congratulations on their promotion. I wish them well next season. I don’t think anyone will miss their arrogance nor Passiondale.
It is quite funny Harrogate slagging of the two teams they never managed to beat.
It does make you wonder if the have approached any other teams to roll over this season? Just a thought.
Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it.”

Well, good riddance to “Gate” out of this league. It’s nice to know they spent their evening thinking about the 2 teams in the league that they couldn’t beat on the pitch, so turned to social media to try feel bigger and better about themselves.
I think their instagram stories speak volumes about the real class level and morals of the club, hopefully it doesn’t go further than their players, but I’m sure the arrogance stems from above… Hence the requests of walkovers to both Phoenix & Driffield ey!
But, fair play to them on promotion as both York & Heath bottled some important games and injuries took their toll. However, in my humble opinion, Harrogate offer nothing special or exciting. So, this league may see them again real soon if they can’t retain players or sort their pitch out. Only time will tell I suppose!
Here’s to a great season, looking forward to the next!

Harrogate called Alnwick about two weeks before the fixture at their place in March, asking us to concede. We obviously didn’t and I’m glad to see Driffield and Doncaster didn’t either.

We came very close to beating them that day which would have made all the difference in the promotion show down. That was the last fixture to be played on that pitch. Sadly one of our key players, who was unlucky to only be selected on the bench for the team of the season, suffered a bad knee injury that could quite reasonably be blamed on the pitch.

Fair play to Harrogate for getting over the line and they had to do it the hard way by playing (home games) away.

I don’t take social media too seriously, especially when alcohol is involved. In real life, I prefer the way the Heath team has conducted themselves they seem like a good bunch and have a strong second team that traveled all the way up to Alnwick.

A good competitive league again this year. Hopefully those competing in the papa johns cup can do this league proud on the national stage again.
