Apparently Harrogate have half listened to the views of this forum???
And launched a crowd funding page to sort the drainage problem on the pitch!
Or is it to fund higher wages for players required at Nat 2?

Maybe they should dip into their £180,000 + per season player budget

Harrogate needs to sort out its roads before anything else. Absolutely shocking levels of potholes and surface damage everywhere.

Lots of potholes in Rotherham area as well. Hadnt realised it was down to rugby clubs to sort out - I’ll have a word next time I see the Dinnington committee.

£180,000 over 22 games

£8181 per game, so £454.54 per game per player?
Sign me up for some of that

Just round it up to £198,00 and make it £500 per game

I was sat with a Harrogate bigwig pre match, when we played at Pythons some 18 months ago when he was bemoaning the fact that Gate had £60 -£70k playing budget against other teams' (then Nat 2) budget of £130k plus. Even at that level I would have thought that the pitch would be a priority. Lets see. Still a lot of money to pay to one team of players IMO

Playing budget is different to player budget.

Playing budget will include travel, kit, physios, coaches, fees, training facilities, equipment, registrations, match fees, travel expenses plus other costs for senior rugby.

I assume most clubs run with a playing budget over a budget just to pay players

BBB Given all those things are NOT included in the players budget, would I be right to assume that all those things collectively add up to the £60 - £70k and therefore the players get nothing. Surely such a highly exalted person from "Gate" (as he purported to be) could never get the two totally confused. Or maybe as a high ranker he was being kept in the dark. I dont think so.

PS Get your pitch fixed so you do not continue to lose much needed revenue and home games.

Only the committee etc would know the exact spends etc, but if you think gate spend 70k just on players match fees, you’re wrong.

70k for 22 games is £176 match fee per player, per game - this doesn’t happen.

People just chuck figures out and hope to get nibbles

I think it almost certain Harrogate would have a player budget of around 70k. Given the figures u just calculated at £176 a match. It isn't unrealistic for a nat 2 club or a club wanting to get back to nat 2 to be paying between £150 and £200 per player.

No one in this league is paying £175 to £200 standard match fee per player - No chance
They'll be clubs at the top end of Nat 2 not paying this amount
£200 x20 players
x26 games = 104K

With that 104k, you'd also need to pay for coaches, kit, training facilities, travel, physios, registrations, fines, equipment and anything else. Add that all up and you'd have a senior budget of anywhere from 150-200k per season. Do you honestly think that the majority of Nat 2 clubs are shelling this out? I would have thought the majority would be half of this, as where does that amount of money come from year on year?

I'd be surprised that any club would be dishing out £100 a game as standard in this league (that's 40k)!

Imagination and Chinese whispers distorting realism

Not sure what rugby world you have been living in, but plenty of players in this league on £200+ a game.
Nat 2 is a different animal, with top players not only getting £200+ appearance fees, but retainers. £100k a year wouldn’t be enough for Hull, Rotherham, Tykes

Harrogate pay certain players £200 per game. It’s a fact, and your either not in the know, or to naive to see it.
We all know nobody in the league should be spending £70k plus a year on players but it clearly happens.

I'm taking about paying numbers 1-18 north of £150+ a game - this doesn't happen. You're telling me that bench players at Harrogate are on £150 match fee?

Individual players getting £200+ a game in this league is believable, but crazy at the same time, regardless of which club they play for. These will be very few and far between - can you name 10?

Fully understand the payment levels in Nat 2. When you're taking about top players, you're taking a very small sample size and thinking that everyone is on or around those amounts for payments. For every £300 player, there will be plenty of £75 players

Harrogate are not spending 70k a year on match fees this season - now, that is a fact

Who at Harrogate are getting over £200 match fee? Can you name them as I'd be very interested to know?

Plenty by all accounts. If you are a "Gate" Bigwig you should know.
