I understand that Heath won with a 35-35 draw???
Anyone sober enough yet from Heath to update the forum as to the days events?

Heath drew 35 - 35 but were declared winners and given the trophy as they scored first.

Information copied from another thread

Congratulations to Heath on brining home the Trophy to cap a succession of remarkable seasons.

If the score is a guide, then it must have been a very interesting and tense game

Not sure if the information below will format correctly - apologies if it comes out rubbish!

Watched the game.

Was a brilliant match to watch for a neutral, although the ending was an anticlimax after Heath scored at the end to level the game and opportunity to win, which missed the uprights. Heath were left celebrating with the first score of the day.

Barnstaple 10 is an outstanding talent, although with a 5 point lead and 1 min on the clock a daft grubber kick straight into Heaths hands was the moment which lost them the game.

Congratulations to Heath.

For Johnson’s sake that was a get out of jail card!
It would have very tough to bear if he had needed it to win had Barnstaple scored first!
In any case congrats to Heath sounds their good fortune stayed with them!
Well done to all concerned.

Great game for the neutral supporters.
Thought Saif Boussada was excellent!
In my opinion, the game was lost when the 6'8" second row took a quick tap from a penalty when they had dominated the line outs.(I think with 2 maybe 3 mins to play)

What a game, what a day, what a weekend.

Heath brought the cup back to Yorkshire. A superb day out for all associated with the club.  The players gave their all against a very strong Barnstaple. I'm sure Barnstaple
thought they had won it taking a 5 point lead with 4 minutes to go. However the never say die attitude of the Heath players got them over the line.

The physicality of the game was immense. Comments are often made about  the size of Heaths pack, well just ask any of them how strong and abrasive the boys from Devon were. However they were met head on and by their own admission they were put off their stride by how fierce Heaths defence  was. There were some very sore bodies on Sunday morning.

Heath had a plan and they stuck at it. Game management was the key to success and they didn't panic in those last few minutes.  At this level dealing with the pressure and staying calm is what's required. Fail to prepare for those moments then prepare to fail.

The Barnstaple players and supporters were very gracious in defeat and a real credit to  their club and themselves.

As for this old Heathen, I'm sure I lost a few years off my life as the game unfolded and the tension went through the roof.

Superb result for the club from West Vale.

Have a great summer everyone alreasy looking forward to next year's league competition. I'm sure it will be a cracker.
