Who's going to take the title this year? Northallerton and Vandals dominated Y3 last year so you'd expect them to be well place to push up the table. Will Bradford & Bingley be able to find their level after a few tough seasons? Have Baildon got enough brown envelopes to last the whole season?

Anyone willing to stick their neck out and make some early predictions for promotion and relegation?

Based on last season, I’ll go Ripon and Yarnbury for promotion, Hemsworth and Bramley for relegation.

Don’t like betting against my own team but with the coach leaving, players going and commitment at an all time low, it’s going to be another tough year for Hemsworth

Looking forward to rekindling old relationships and forging some new in what promises to be just as intense a season as the last couple. Predictions for finishing positions:

1   Ripon - despite losing Player Coach to pastures new and first choice 10 to career ending injury, this still young squad has the appetite, attitude and ability to go further.
2   Yarnbury - they will keep the try BP machine ticking over in their home games and do enough on the road to be in contention.
3   Roundhegians - sleeping giants to wake up and gain some consistent form.
4   Baildon - been close contenders for a couple of years and cash or not, will have the appetite to keep up the table.
5   Bradford & Bingley - may be sticking my neck out with this unknown quantity but think they will need a season of stability to stop the rot and consolidate before bidding for glory again.
6   Huddersfield Laund Hill - here significant departure(s) may have a negative effect. May have to settle for mid-table mediocrity despite being a "proper Rugby Club" and a good place to visit.
7   Halifax Vandals - Yorkshire 3 form a different kettle of fish from Y2 and need to be able to step up quickly, so a year for consolidation.
8   Northallerton - as above, they have seen pendulum success and less so over past few seasons and may need a good solid season to get used to the higher standard again.
9   Dinnington - some quality individual players don't make a great team and so can't see them ending up much different from last season.
10 Bramley Phoenix - home power will just about keep them out of trouble but not sure how long they can keep up the "just made it" performance?
11 Hemsworth - Yorkshire 2 showed as a step to far and it can't have been fun being on the receiving end of so many one sided games.
12 Ossett - similar to Hems, don't think they have what it takes personnel wise to build a sustainable threat in this division.

Other views and challenges welcome.

Knowing the mentality at the Bees. I believe their bid to restore lowly(for them) Y1 status has already begun. They simply cant get it out of their myopic minds that the only way to succeed is to SPLASH THE CASH on average players. They can no longer compete with high flying Salem in the money stakes.

Could be a very long season from what I’ve heard at HLH

Number 9 has gone to Cleckheaton
2nd rower to their counterparts at Lockwood
Back rower has left but unsure where

A few more potential leavers floating about on their way out of the door

A shame clearly a team of good individuals that just couldn’t gel

Ossett 9 no more

Must have stopped paying inflated expenses. If 9 good enough for Cleck and other good enough for Lockwood fair enough but would be a waste of time and no progression if only squad/second teamers. time will tell.

Bees have announced 9 new signings so far and a lot of them seem to be returning players. Whether they are splashing the cash or not you’d expect them to be competitive as most of those would have played with them in higher leagues.

Interesting commentary about comings and goings. Keep it up. Be good to see where Bees are fishing and hopefully if they are splashing the cash, it's worth it for them. Doesn't seem to have been too successful a strategy up to now though?

Predictions and other debate on placings welcome, as will likely contributors and contenders for next season's weekly league predictions.

Ripon looking at a largely recycled squad from last season with some Colts stepping up full time. Pre-season starts next week, so see who rucks up. Beer festival tomorrow, so another good recruiting event, as long as everyone can remember which club they were at.

9 new signings is indeed impressive. If they are returning players from higher leagues one can only presume they are returning for the £££$$$ as they would have been paid previously.

We’re back!

Preseason begins next Tuesday and looking to push forward as a squad.

Last time we came up it was a case of a lot of player poaching, and injuries early on that did our season before it started…. This time round, we look to have kept all players and recruited too.

We’ve beaten two teams in this league to win the Silver Trophy and given Rish and Keighley good games ending in draws in the last couple of months.

Aiming just to do as well as we can and see how far up the league we finish.

I would make predictions but I haven’t looked at this leagues form for a couple of seasons.

Good luck all can’t wait to get going tbh.

Interesting locked out you have Ossett dropping from effectively 7th, bar a second team/Corinthians admin error, to smack bang bottom. When we clearly competed most of the season and took a fair few “big” scalps when we got our full side out. No ones leaving and we’ve picked up a couple so we will have to respectfully disagree on that subject.

As for league favourites Yarnbury were very good with the ball in hand so I’ll go with them.

Can you explain the difference between their poaching and your recruitment?

Presumably your new players were not playing at other clubs last season?

We were well received at Ossett last season and it was not the easiest place to get a result by any stretch of the imagination. Therefore I believe they will be ok. They seem to be a club on the up having risen a couple of leagues in a few years. Good luck to them for the future. Decent folk.

No offence intended Smashie, in a list of 12 someone has to come bottom and everyone entitled to their opinion. Once I got to the lower half of the table I just had a wild stab to be honest.

I echo Flaggy's comment about Ossett's hospitality and competitiveness and looking forward to making the away trip this coming season as I couldn't last.
