Proper, traditional rugby clubs are the ones communities love and the ones that people enjoy going to.
Salem, sadly, is not that. Mercenaries - fuelled by unsustainable finances - and a supposed empty clubhouse after winning the treble should be a telling sign.
Say the rumoured numbers are true (and I am not saying they are), and they are paying out £2.2k a week in player salaries, they could easily be saving near 50k a season. That could be put into the clubhouse, improving a junior set up. It boggles the mind.
Rotten to the core and it comes at the expense of teams who work bloody hard week in week out to bring colts through. They deserve everything that comes to them.
I hope they fall down the leagues and sustainably rebuild.
