Sorry Stella but if we had better communication it would reduce everyone's frustration. Afterall the clubs are (I think) the most important pieces of the jigsaw and deserve to know what is going on.
That's not what came across in your earlier comment.
And the clubs are kept in the loop. The fact the draw got delayed by a couple of days you consider that a slight to the clubs??
The fact that 17th August was mooted to be the date for the first rounds should be of more concern to you. Or didn't you get that memo either?

Some clubs seem to know who they are playing, those close to YRFU I guess and others have no idea. The YRFU is its normal helpful self saying no fixtures to display.

Not very helpful I think.

They've put up 3 fixtures for the 1st round of the shield for Sunday 1st September. Not sure whether there's only 6 teams entered or that's a preliminary round or just been published in error. Doesn't take more than 10 minutes to update a website though.

Should all be there now. Great to see the Y2 Forum still active in what will doubtless be, a very short summer.

And you assume YRFU have full time staff just sat their waiting to pander to your every need.

The number of teams listed in each of the draws matches the number of teams declaring a wish to enter. 36 teams eligble, declined to enter.
They've structured it in such a way as to avoid the numerous byes.

Stella my friend. I have no problem with the "Fine Gent" who did the draw whenever it was done. My point was merely that the communication/consultation with the clubs simply isnt good enough.
I note that the "Cup" already has a walkover (Malton) as well as the shield. It seems that less than half the clubs have even entered the comps. Surely that MUST send a message to the county that the cup comps are dying, lets see how many walkovers there are in the August games and then going forward. I think its a great shame as I used to love the old comps on Wednesday nights in March/April but the game has changed since those heady days. With the RFU hell bent on shortening the grass roots season it must be a real dilemma for our county reps at Twickenham to have to report that our county seem determined to stretch the season out from August to the middle of May. I wonder which way those two would vote if pressed for their opinion. Where the bloody hell has a joint vision and joined up thinking gone. The whole thing needs a shake up if the county comps have any chance of meaningful survival. I personally dont believe that asking clubs to use what are in effect pre-season games as cup comps will engender more support. Possibly the opposite as if clubs are to take this seriously and commit to fixtures they will want to field established (and not pre-season teams/players) to ensure they make the best progress they can.

Three walkovers now. Ilkley, who were drawn at home, have given a walkover to Middlesbrough.
And yes, clubs were contacted again before the draw to confirm they still wished to enter.

Funny how it all works out. Ripon were due to host Rish in preliminary round on 24th August but they since bailed as "can't field a front row". Middlesbrough, now all dressed up with nowhere to go, will be coming to Ripon that dat for a friendly. Looking forward to the test to finalise pre-season plans. Thanks Boro.
