Ok so let’s try to kick start the quiet end of the forum.

Alnwick vs York
Last seasons opener for these teams with York coming away with a narrow loss. I would imagine the same this time round
Alnwick Win

Ilkley vs Heath
Ilkley have been very quiet on social media, and Heath don’t appear to have the influx of signings of previous years. But Heath with a strong squad to push for the top of the table.
Heath Win

Sandal vs Huddersfield
This is always a test for any side, and could be a good marker for how Huddersfield we perform in the league. Complete punt
Sandal Win

Scunthorpe vs Cleckheaton
With the signings Scunthorpe have made, they are clearly hunting for something. To much for Cleckheaton
Scunthorpe Win

Selby Vs Blaydon
First of the leagues promoted sides. Blaydon will be hoping to improve last years  away results.
Blaydon win

Percy Park vs Driffield
The second of the promoted sides. If Percy Park can make it as difficult for teams to travel to the north east as Blaydon and Alnwick have then they won’t have an issue this season.
Can’t back against the Woldsmen
Driffield Win

Alnwick v York - York
Alnwick got well beat last weekend by Northern and I expect the same again after a change of coaching.

Ilkley v Heath - Heath
Heath are massive. That’s my only reason.

Sandal v Huddersfield - Hudds
Hudds looking to bounce back. Milner back at 10 after winning Nat 2.

Scunthorpe v Cleckheaton - Scunny
Some solid recruitment from the side in Lincolnshire. Can see them building something.

Selby v Blaydon - Selby
Blaydons travel curse to continue and 2 losses in pre season to Ayr and M’Boro. Selby like to play.

Percy Park v Driffield - Percy Park
Some good recruitment in the North East. Big pack at home for the win.

Welcome back from summer slumber.
Alnwick v York
York have lost narrowly on the road to Alnwick every time in recent years. But my heart and head are in complete agreement (for a change) that York will shade this encounter. I expect those  who watch this game will be thoroughly entertained by both teams going for it.
York win

Ilkley v Heath
A very tough opener for Ilkley even on their own cabbage patch. Close till half time and then Heath to steam roller them in the second half.
Heath win

Sandal v Huddersfield
Sandal can be a handful on their own turf. So agree with the comment that it will be a test for Huddersfield. Fancy Sandal to do enough for a home win.

Scunthorpe v Cleck
Scunthorpe smashed York at their place last season and if they have the same group I can’t see anything other than a comfortable home win

Selby v Blaydon
Welcome Selby. Great to have another local derby for the Minster men (ours is considerably larger than yours)
I think Selby will come out all guns blazing and Blaydon who are likely to still be on the bus (like most of last seasons away games) will be blown away.
Selby win

Percy park v Driffield
Home advantage will be a key decider in this one. Close game but PP to sneak it.
PP win

Morning, all…nice to be back.

Alnwick v York - seem to recall Alnwick don’t start well ( I hope not as we are playing them next week ) Narrow York win.

Ilkley v Heath - would love to see the Dalesmen take this, but I fear not. Prove me wrong, please, lads. At least a point for Ilkley in any event.

Sandal v Huddersfield - agree it will be a tough test for Huddersfield, but I think they will pass it. Just.

Scunthorpe v Cleckheaton - Scunny appear to have attracted some extra talent. Home win.

Shelby v Blaydon - the race-goers were poor away from their plastic fantastic last season, but they should beat the newcomers comfortably.

Percy Park v Driffield - I can’t see last season’s most consistent side losing to the new boys. Driff win.

Guess whose back, it’s me, the roaming rugby hooligan, the forum ultra, Duffields financial FairPlay regulator.

With the Mrs away at the swingers festival, I thought now would be a great time to get my keys in the bowl of the Yorkshire rugby forum.

First up, Annick vs York
York have failed numerous times to get off the bus in the first game of the season up north, however pre season has not looked favourable for the tweedwearing, black sheep drinking country boys. Close game but Annick to just clinch a result - York win

Ilkley vs Heath
Ilkley have been very quiet in regard to new signings, same as Heath really, however Todd Boehly’s Heath side spent the millions on players last season in a failed attempt to be promoted. Will they be back with a vengeance or will another manager be getting the boot? Heath comfortable win

Sandal vs Uddersfield
Will the newly relegated side be able to compete with the spendings of last years big spenders Heath, or maybe Scunthorpe?
Sandal narrow win

Scunthorpe vs Cleckheaton
Battle of the heavys. Whoever comes out smelling of roses in this wheeze-fest, will i'm sure have earned the win.
Cleck narrow win

Selby vs Blaydon
Blaydon with a hit and miss season last year, not short of quality in their squad. Testing game for the newcomers. Blaydon win

Percy Park vs Duffield
Few departees from Dronefield, will this hinder their consistency? No doubt Duffield have the chequebook primed to bring in some overseas talent.
Duffield narrow win

Didn’t make the journey to Alnwick myself.
But told a good all round performance by York running out 7-28 winners

Congrats to Ilkley, PP, Selby, Sandal and Scunny along with York all off to winning starts.
Close scores at Ilkley and PP
any updates?
Suspect PS will be well oiled and tucked in bed dreaming of promotion after the mighty Heath chariot lost a wheel today!
Selby smashed Blaydon and Scunny thrashed Cleck, so what went on there?

Just got in actually, DA ! A great day at Stack’s Field and if anyone here was a neutral, they would have been thrilled.

Brilliant advert for the game.

What an opening weekend of results.

Driffield were probably caught napping by Percy Park, and took longer to get into the game. 14-0 rather quickly and an uphill battle from there for the Woldsmen.
It could have gone either way in the end. But Percy Park sneaked it, and although Driffield had a 45m penalty at goal to win it, it wasn’t to be.
Percy Parks backs play some really attractive rugby and move the ball well, they will certainly test plenty of teams in the league on today’s showing.

Scunthorpe with a statement result. York  surprised me, as did the Ilkley Win.
It doesn’t look like Blaydon have learned to win away from home over summer, and Huddersfield found out that it’s not going to be simple to get out of this league.

Could be a really exciting season.

Was tackle height keenly policed this weekend across the league? I am told it’s a big area of interest for referees this season.

First half of the Driffield game it was very obviously being watched, second half it was similar to last season.

Forgive the intrusion at this dizzy level but a valid point raised about tackle height. In Ripon v Halifax Vandals on Saturday (Y2) the Referee was very sharp, with 10 high tackles penalised overall - 7 Ripon (2 yellow cards) and 3 Vandals (1 yellow card). Interestingly, as the high tackles continued to occur and be penalised after the cardings, no further yellows or reds followed, which IMHO showed a lack of conviction from the man in the middle, as well as a flagrant disregard for the laws or player safety, for all involved.

I’m all for it if it’s consistent from week to week. Last season it started off being watched and then filtered away.

I’m sure we will see a period of high card counts, but players will adjust mindsets and it will settle down for the better.

Quite a few high-tackle pens given at Ilkley v Heath, a few of which were ridiculous in my opinion. No cards though, just a talking to with both Captains at one point.
