welcome to the forum Scrumer

Doncaster Phoenix VS Bradford Salem - Tough one Salem have had a great start to the season but would expect Donny at home to be a tough nut to crack. Would expect a close game with Donny just nipping it.

Goole VS Old Crossleyans - Going for Goole to pick up their first win of the season to get their season back on a roll.

Old Brodleians VS Pontefract - Game of the week for a neutral to watch going with home adv and a brods win.

Rochdale VS Morley - Long trip and anouther 2 sides how have not lost yet so going with home adv to see Rochdale bag the points.

Scarborough VS Moortown - With a dry pitch and home advantage taking Scarborough to get the points

Wetherby VS Malton and Norton - Wetherby to get their first win of the season and hopefully kick start a push up the table

Doncaster Phoenix VS Bradford Salem
- As ever it will depend on what team BS have to select from. This should be a very close game and I'm going for a very tight home win.

Goole VS Old Crossleyans
- It would be disingenuous so early in the season to say that this is a basement battle but it has that feel about it. Goole seem to have some players back and OCs will be one down from a red card last week (I seem to recall?) Goole to get the points here.

Old Brodleians VS Pontefract
- OBs should have enough at home in this one.

Rochdale VS Morley
- Most probably a very large win for Rochdale who I understand have some lightening backs.

Scarborough VS Moortown
- Carl has already told me that Moortown expect a very large win as they see Silver Royd as their lucky ground. Scabs don't stand a chance against that sort of confidence. 😔😓

Wetherby VS Malton and Norton
- Malton were surprisingly off colour last week, although Scabs generally outplayed them in all areas. I think Malton might bring back a few of the old boys from the 2nds to stiffen them up a bit. However still a very hard game to call - so I'll go for a home victory, just.

Have a great day everyone.

Donny P v Salem – Salem by plenty.

Goole v Old Crocs – Old Crocs to win a high scoring but close game.

Old Brods v Ponte – Think Ponte’s winning start to the season will end, home bonus point win.

Rochdale v Morley – MOTD for me close game but home advantage to make the difference.

Scarborough v Moortown – Close game but just favour Scarborough.

Wetherby v M&N – Cold go either way but home advantage may just be enough.

Welcome SAGI.

A fantastic league to be a part of this one, always keeping a close eye myself.

Doncaster Phoenix vs Bradford Salem. Turmoil vs Turbulence. Phoenix will be kicking themselves after 2 defeats, it really is not an easy ride in this league and they have found out the hard way. Salem, for all their financial struggles, seem to be fielding multiple professional and former NRL rugby players. It is just amazing what the spirit of Rugby has done (and no financial support) to these superstars for them to continually play week in week out. Doncaster Phoenix to nullify the 20 stone threats and win by 3 points.

Goole vs Old Crocs - the old foe that got on top of us last season, a slow start with multiple losses to the squad has left Goole struggling. At home here this is an early game where they need to come away with some points. I think Old Crossleyans win this, with Goole walking into the clubhouse with 1 or 2 bonus points.

Old Brodleians vs Pontefract - Ponte will do well to match the Old Brodleians away from home, the young guns playing on their home slope will be a strong outfit to crack this season. I fancy Old Brodleians to win and maintain their position at the top of the table.

Rochdale vs Morley - Arguably the under performers this season are Morley, even though they have 2 wins under their belt. This will arguably be, alongside away to Old Brodleians or Pontefract, the hardest test this season. Rochdale at home will be formidable and look the early league favourites if last season is anything to go by.
Rochdale with a bonus point win.

Scarborough vs Moortown - Could be a points fest this. Scarborough will be pushing for a stronger start to the season, they really turned it on at the end of last year and dug deep. BRB - top 4 the aim this season? I think Moortown may just get the better here, Moortown with 5 points and Scarborough with 2.

Wetherby vs Malton and Norton - Wetherby here to get on top at home and gather a much needed 5 points.

Hopefully see one of you guys next year!

“It’s not unusual” to be in someone’s thoughts while they sleep but BRB must have been dreaming when he heard me say that ??!

After smuggling our best player from under our nose on a free transfer effectively leaving us “udder less” I think BRB is being coy as their now, much improved back line will be a tough ask for anyone to run around, Town included 🥲

Goole VS Old Crossleyans - Which team will secure their first W?? I think it'll be a close game with a few cards but Goole to take the home advantage.

Old Brodleians VS Pontefract - Brods too strong and home. BP win for Brods

Rochdale VS Morley - Morley haven't been tested yet and this week will be a shock for them. Rochdale BP win

Scarborough VS Moortown - This is always a good fixture and either team can click on their day. Close game but Town to take the W

Wetherby VS Malton and Norton - Both teams need to find some form and W, Wetherby to take the points in a tight game.

Doncaster Phoenix VS Bradford Salem- Salem obviously flush but after seeing Donny last week I think they will shade it.

Goole VS Old Crossleyans. Long way to go but looking like two teams destined for a relegation battle. Good effort against Brods gives makes me think draw.

Old Brodleians VS Pontefract Ponte struggling with availability issues so see this as a home win. Brods unable to raise a second team so maybe they are too.

Rochdale VS Morley  Dale looking good, comfortable home win.

Scarborough VS Moortown  MOTD. Eyecatching win for Scabs last week against a team I expect to be in the top two. Another draw.

Wetherby VS Malton and Norton Close, Wetherby to break their duck.

Rumour has it that Moortown 2nd team were playing with matches next to the 1st team coach and managed to burn it down last night (perhaps in a sulk that they were banned for Scarboroughs ladies day due to a surge in pregnancies last time the fixture coincided with the prestigious event).

I'm reliably informed that no other coach has been sourced and therefore the 1st XV have hired a service bus, in fact the number 18 that normally runs from the MBC to the local Bengal Brasserine.

This may sound far fetch but I can assure you is 100% true and photographic evidence will be provided later.

Very resourceful from the Moortown big wigs as ever.

A confidential informant mused it was all "very Moortown"

Great game at Silver Royd which was pipped by Scarborough after leading for the whole match. Towards the end Moortown where fighting to snatch the win but Scarborough hung on.

Hard, fast and fair match with only one technical yellow for a Moortown player.

Very well refereed.

Phoenix 10 - 31 Bradford Salem
Another big win for BS. Klenky will be pleased with his teams returns to date. It's probably more of an indication of the state of professional rugby league that such good players are allowed to play the day before a league match. I.e. there's more money in union.
Either way the Salem march goes on and if they keep their team together they will be hard to beat.

Goole 10 - 12 Old Crossleyans
Billed as a possible lower end match Goole will be very disappointed by this loss at home and if they have players to come back then they'll be hoping it will be soon.

Old Brodleians 29 - 26 Pontefract
Expected to be a close match and it was. OBs would have probably hoped for a more comprehensive victory but Ponte won't be too disappointed with such a close match and maybe 2 bonus points? (I haven't looked)

Rochdale 27 - 25 Morley
Looks like both Rochdale and Morley are going very well and will be tough sides to beat. Great effort from Morley who weren't the best travellers last season..

Scarborough 26 - 20 Moortown
Already mentioned this above.

Wetherby 43 - 16 Malton and Norton
Thumping of the day. The beer will have been flowing in Wetherby last night. This was a proper old fashioned thrashing if the scoreline is to be believed. It's very early days so Malton won't be concerned yet - things change very quickly in this league.

Some interesting results this weekend and some close games!

I managed to catch an hour of the Malton vs Wetherby which saw 2 yellow cards in the first 15 minutes for Wetherby! Is this now something we need to get used to?

That being said, Malton who I believe are missing a few.. did what they could in the first half but Weth put 30+ unanswered points on them in the 2nd half and almost breezed to 5 points.

Looking at the other results it looks like Salem & Rochdale are the teams to beat..

Classic game of two halves at Woodhead as Brods went behind early as Ponte barrelled down the hill. However the visitors couldn't keep it together and Brods scored and kept scoring making it 29-7 at halftime. The Brods supporters were predicting 50 points as their team turned round to play down the hill. However Ponte attacked with new vigour and Brods hardly left their own half in the second stanza. The crowd were getting worried but Brods held on just. Ponte scoring a bonus point try in the last play of the game. So Salem and Brods top the table both with 15 points. Great start to the season for both teams who meet at Woodhead on 12th October. One not to be missed.
