I merely asked what relevance York’s 2s had to the results on the 28th.

You’ve posted a number of times since and not been able to answer the question. Thus, I’ll surmise it had no relevance.
Not dissimilar to you MK!

Not one for answering my own questions but as I’ve been invited to… the admittance of York 2s to the league was of zero relevance to the results on the 28th.

Trying to get passed the name calling and belittling…

So I’m guessing nobody is on board with York 2s joining the leagues?

Also a point in time to mention Heath giving Cleckheaton a walkover in the Yorkshire cup as unable to field a side. 2nd team players fed up of being told they aren’t allowed a takeaway on a Friday night? First team players not playing without payment for a cup fixture? Emergency training session? Plenty of possibilities.
But “injuries” is the reason.
I'm aware of another Cup game that was in doubt. Also, there is now a 'C' against both Middlesboro and Sandal. Whatever that means.

It is also worth noting. This weekend was declared as one of those free weekends and the cup games were scheduled for a later date. Out of the blue, the fixtures were brought forward to this weekend. 3 of our players booked holidays for this weekend after checking it was clear.

The Middlesbrough v Sandal match is down as a HWO on the RFU Fixture/Results website; along with Cleckheaton v Heath.

I obviously can't comment on the situation at each club that's called games off this weekend, but if the weekend has been called a 'free weekend' at the start of the season I think it is only right the lads that play each week (and likely train at least 2 days a week with video reviews etc thrown in) are afforded the weekend off. Brownie points at home are quite quickly spent if you're cancelling holidays last minute to play a cup game.

Apologies to anyone upset at me posting on a forum at this level, I will retreat back down a league or two now.

Ilkley had a third XV travel to Ribb today. We’re lucky, as the game is dying I’m afraid.

Too many clubs 1's centric which has seen a catastrophic collapse in playing numbers.

The list is endless in my opinion as to why the game is dying, of which it is fixable. A good example is our own colts side from last year I believe half of them have retired......

Losing players as they transition to senior rugby is one of the biggest problems our game faces.

I get the safeguarding issues etc etc. but many years ago Colts would be training with the mens side. From 16 you would be exposed to holding a bag for an angry backrow from the first team, or get pushed around in a game of touch.

We no longer have a transition period within the game. They go from the safety of their age group and mates to either University or Men’s rugby.

It would be an interesting number to understand how many 18 year olds stop playing rugby.

The club I am affiliated to have also suffered from junior to senior transformation, not least to rugby league academies.
Once they are no longer required to make up academy numbers ,they drift away to other interests.
Fortunately, late last season this was not the case and now our first team is showing roots of progress due to several 17 and 18 Yr olds returning .
