Some interesting fixtures this week with an obvious standout for me in Ribb v Ensians. Bottom 6 all have potentially winnable fixtures as well so big weekend for some of the struggling clubs looking to start climbing the table.

Beverley v Keighley
Bridlington v Wath Upon Dearne
North Ribblesdale v Hullensians
Pocklington v Harrogate Pythons
Wensleydale v Old Rishworthian
West Leeds v Leodiensian

Beverley v Keighley
Beaver park is never an easy place to go but I’m backing Keighley to carry on their unbeaten run in a close encounter. Keighley -7

Bridlington v Wath Upon Dearne
Can’t see Brid winning anytime soon with the added disappointment of their saffa’s doing a runner. Wath to bounce back after Saturdays loss. Wath +7

North Ribblesdale v Hullensian’s
MOTD, both Pock and Keighley will be eager to see the result of this one on Saturday afternoon. With Ribb adding another international to bolster their squad its makes for an even harder challenge for Hull. This one might raise a few eyebrows. Hull -7

Pocklington v Harrogate Pytttthhhonss
Pytthhonss missing a few last week and the scoreline really showed that. A great game from the lads to end Wath's unbeaten run at home and they’ll be looking to carry that momentum into this week for sure. Pock +7

Wensleydale v Old Richworthian’s
Both teams picking up positive results last week. Can see this being a close one with dale coming away with the better share of the points. Dale -7

West Leeds v Leodiensian’s
Home advantage will give West the confidence they need to get over the line. West -7

Beverley v Keighley – Comfortable away win for Keighley

Bridlington v Wath – Brid have conceded more points than anyone else in the league and that does not look good if they want to avoid being pulled into the drop zone. Think the big Wath side will grind out a win.

North Ribb v Hulls – MOTD Hulls to push North Ribb very close but just home advantage making the difference.

Pockington v Harrogate P – Not seen Pock this season but told they are playing attractive rugby so Pock to win by 20 points.

Wensleydale v Old Rish – Rish to bring more gloom to Wensleydale Rish win.

West Leeds v Leos – The Leeds derby Leos to add to West Leeds woes.

Following this with interest and have some knowledge of some teams.

Going with unbeaten form for Keighley and no home advantage for Beavers. Keighley +7

Brid also not looking too hot at the moment and perhaps a few Y2 clubs relishing the prospect of a day out at the seaside next season? Wath to steamroller it -7

Who can stop the relentless march of Ribb's erm... home grown talent? Not Ensians for sure. Ribb +7

Don't know Pock at all but suspect that Pythons may not rise to the occasion. Pock -7

Would like to say it would be good to see 'Dale back in Y2 for travel reasons alone, but I won't. Suspect Rich will perform better being at home - 7

Looks like W Leeds bubble well and truly bursted, if that's even a word? Leos to maintain mid-table mediocrity with a close win -7

Locked,
10 members of match day squad are Ribb lads since single figure age. On top of that three lads from Wharfedale squad whom live within five miles of our ground. On top of that two others who live closer to Ribb than any other club makes it a fairly local squad despite your barbed comments.
PS Please give me a call!!

Cheek of the man!

Spouting off about higher clubs pilfering players from lower level ‘proper’ rugby clubs all the while they’ve ‘gained’ three themselves in the opposite direction.

So players are capable of moving both ways?

Maybe voting to keep second teams out of the leagues isn’t about self preservation after all? Maybe it’s about personal gain!

If the local clubs aren’t able to offer their players regular competitive 2nd XV rugby they will be forced to go find it elsewhere!
Makes sense.

However if the North Ribb squad keeps growing like this they might be looking for regular competitive 2nd XV fixtures, in a proper league surrounding, that gives there squad the best opportunity to develop.

Differ Lad,
the points you raise are not unreasonable but we have a situation at Ribb at the moment where we have a close knit squad who appreciates they cant all play first team rugby every week and are just happy to be part of a club in a sweet spot for a number of positive reasons. I know that nothing is forever and eventually, whenever that is, the bubble will burst somewhat. What really grates me is the people of "little or no knowledge" who just keep sniping over the garden wall with no appreciation of the good things that are happening at some clubs.
Why do people always want to criticise clubs on an upward curve and also do the same when clubs are on the way down.
Most grass roots clubs success or otherwise tends to be cyclical for a number of reasons, local lads coming through together, improved coaching, or players who have previously moved on to play at a higher level returning to give something back to the club they began at.
Ribb have a mix of all three of those reasons at the moment and collectively it has turned around the clubs fortunes. Surely nobody can argue with that. Unless they have "NO KNOWLEDGE" of the game.
I can also state on a personal note that what ever the success of our first team we will not be attempting to enter our seconds into the league system. Preferring to play other clubs locally maybe four times a season to reduce travel and increase the playing experience in direct contradiction of the reasons the RFU give for allowing lower XVs into the league system.
That is only North Ribbs position and is not meant as a criticism of clubs with a different viewpoint.
I hope that clarifies our great situation at the moment and we will enjoy the ride for aa long as it lasts.

Beverley v Keighley
Strong side out for the Bev this weekend on a charity day too in a fancy kit. Always close Bev vs Keighley at Bev, 2 teams who respect each other in battles over the years. Always back your own, -7 Bev

Bridlington v Wath Upon Dearne
Brid are looking down the barrel of doing a Bradford and Bingley with back to back relegations. Wath to take 5 points here. +7 Wath

North Ribblesdale v Hullensian’s
2 top sides. I saw Ensians last week a total different side to last year. They have recruited well with a mix of the team from last year. Don't suspect they'll have enough for Ribb who are looking odds on to gain back to back promotions. +7 Ribb

Pocklington v Harrogate Pytttthhhonss
Pock to win this easy. Enough said +7 Pock

Wensleydale v Old Richworthian’s
Dale good result last week and they need to start putting some wins together. I suspect theyll get 5 points here. +7 Dale

West Leeds v Leodiensian’s
A Leeds derby.. this game doesn't look the most exciting on paper.... - West Leeds need a win on that basis alone, I will go them? -7 West Leeds

Beverley v Keighley - obviously Keighley are very strong but they aren’t usually quite as strong away from home. Don’t know why but I fancy Beverley to nick this one in what I think will be a high scoring game. Beverley -7

Bridlington v Wath - Brid in free fall, Wath very confident in their own game. Wath another side who don’t always travel as well but Brid have struggled particularly against the strong packs so far so backing Wath +7

North Ribblesdale v Hullensians - game of the day. Ribb don’t seem to have any weaknesses and are adding new signings to make them even stronger. Hullensians will give them a good game and there could be plenty of tries each way but backing Ribb +7

Pocklington v Harrogate Pythons - Pock are very strong, particularly at home and we’ll have to cut out the errors if we want to compete this week. Always back yourself though. Pythons -7

Wensleydale v Old Rishworthian - Dale seems to have a few players back now and are traditionally very strong at home. Long away day for Ribb as well. Dale +7

West Leeds v Leodiensian - all 6 of West Leeds games so far have been against the top 6 so they’ll be targeting a win here, if they don’t get one then it could be panic stations. Leos certainly capable of winning here but I think WL will want it more and edge a close one. West Leeds -7
