Y1 forum section rules of engagement
(1/1)
Red Horseman:
We are clearly picking up a lot of welcome newcomers to the board. Many of these are from nowhere remotely connected to Y1, but nevertheless feel the urge to contribute to the forum's most popular section.
Every year, we also welcome members from the promoted/relegated clubs to the Y1 section.
This is how things happen in Y1.
Rules here are simple.
1. We are happy to tolerate the adolescent end of the spectrum, but once a thread shows signs of descending into puerile exchanges, it will be marked Warning - ADS thread or similar. This will allow young people to continue their mindless posting, whilst alerting adults to the fact that there is little point in engaging further.
2. Whilst tolerating the childish, we do not tolerate the offensive. That includes obscenities that are attempted to be disguised by means of @ instead of a, 1 instead of i, etc. In particular, posts aimed at individuals that cross the line between acceptable banter and vitriolic bile are not accepted. If posters don't get the message after their first few posts have been modified, they will thereafter be deleted as I can't waste my valuable time.
3. Anyone posting a new topic requiring an adult level of contribution can apply for and be awarded a GUT thread tag. Any playpen-level posts thereafter on a GUT thread will be immediately deleted.
4. In accordance with a forum poll result, any post mentioning payments to players will be immediately deleted.
5. As the forum's most popular section, we inevitably attract interest from all over the Yorks leagues. Threads that descend into comment unrelated to Y1 will be moved to the appropriate section where those concerned can continue their banter without boring the rest of us.
6. I don't respond to infantile attempts at pricking a response through petty personal abuse. You need to earn the right to be noticed. Instead, I would refer all those who try, to look to the left where you will find, under the RH picture, an appropriate latin motto. Needless to say, none of the gormless abusers will have had the benefit of a classical education, but if you were to google the motto, you will immediately understand why I don't respond.
7. I don't do appeals. If you don't like the way we work, feel free to engage instead with any of the other nine forum sections available to you.
