Still 50% of reds and 33% yellow is not a bad portion

basically, after loosing in the league to ponte last week with alot of our regulars out, we went with a full squad!

ponte were expecting another easy win, and did'nt like it when we were well ontop--THEY resorted to fighting in the first instance!

yes, the BEST rugby playing side won!

ponte didnt look up for the battle and were beaten by a slightly better team on the day, would also say brids prop got away with running into a handbag situation that was nothing to do with him and started throwing punches, this was my first recollection of any fighting. all in all a poor game in poor conditions with no ponte pie on offer.

Understand that the Shield Final is to be played at HULL RUFC on Sun. 6th May.
Would Driffield or RUFC have been a more popular venue with a bigger crowd?
Certainly closer for Brid' and not too much further for The Swans.
Driff more central to have attracted spectators from York, Malton, Scabs, Pock,
Beverley, Hull, etc? Also a decent pitch and a Rugby Club atmosphere?

Steve Watson is a Hull man.

Can't YRFU afford Silver Royds? ;)

The Shield final would have been an excellent opportunity for Scarbs to put on a show.

That happens a week later with the Roses day. I'm not sure some of the YRFU blazers know what's going to hit them!

Let's face it, they're not really noted for their dynamic thinking!

Some better than others. Ted Atkinson and Paul Staniford are forward thinkers and can see the bigger picture.

The problem as ever is that most of the best people stay involved with clubs- after all, who want to drive to Morley for a meeting on a Wednesday in winter and then just get abuse from people like you and me!!!!

Very fair point. I was almost persuaded to join the County Committee at one stage, but at that time, they were so locked into their ways that I couldn't see how I could change things for the better on my own. Very good for international tickets though!
