I imagine as all the 2nd team's of wath Barnsley and Wheatley hills were promoted. Barnsley by winning the league and then wath and Wheatley due to the new league been created between the championship and merit league 1. They have promoted the 3rd teams to fill that merit league.

i understand that but surely if they have not proven strong enough to win the SY merit 2 should it be a given that they can hold their own in what has already proven harder league as was witnessed last season when hemsworth 2nds moved up and then quite quickly moved back down!do these clubs have any say in the league set up?

Don't think so. Those clubs were obviously the stronger of the league below. The problem last season was the south merit league 1 had 4/5 teams that seemed to be better than the others. This looked to be the same in the central merit league. By taking those teams out and putting them ino the championship 2, in theory it will make south 1/2 more conpetative. The top few teams have been promoted from south 2 to south 1 and there are a couple of other teams entered into south 2. Hopefully both leagues are conpetative with no one running away with it.

Also looking at the results of south 2 wath 3's came 2nd with 3 games in hand over dinnington. Maximum point from those 3 games would have seen them top. Barnsley came 3 having played 8 games less than dinnington. Neither dinnington or Sheffield could be promoted as their 2/3's are in league above. So Rotherham and Wheatley will have been promoted to even leagues out.

Hemsworth 2nds didn't really move up as ther had been a restructuring so these were new leagues anyway.

TMO

Have these fixtures been published anywhere by the YRFU because Thorne's division does not look correct in comparison with our fixtures?

Just to Clarify the situation re the Merit League/Tables on the Yorkshire web site, there has been a delay owing to some league fixtures not matching. Fixture secretaries have been slow to confirm the correct dates, however we anticipate that all 11 league/merit tables will be on the Yorkshire website by August 15th at the latest.
