Guisborough were due to play Sheffield at Abbeydale  this Saturday, but have just cried off.

They are however playing a second team game at home!

Poor form.

Shows the value of the cup!! Hard for Sheff who consistently get 3 or 4 teams out to keep players playing if the oppo blobs.

Is it time to drop the NE1 teams out of the cup and into the shield.

The gap is huge between N2 and NE1 and with no chance of ever winning is it any wonder teams don't take it seriously.

Do you not then have the same problem between NE1 and Yorkshire 2 sides? Part of cup competitions is that you may well get matched up against a much better side. What happened to players wanting to rise to the challenge??

Possibly, but i dont think the gulf from Y2 to NE1 is as big as NE1 to N1.

The majority of sides at NE1 are mainly amateur, once you get into the national leagues these clubs are semi pro.

Let the semi pro boys compete for the cup and the ameteurs play in theshield/
WHRUFC.

kronos is misinformed, as there is no 2nd team game for Guis this week (or last week either)
Lots of injuries have meant many 2nd teamers are in the 1st XV already.
And no 3rds at Guis this season.

Partially misinformed. As it is true that Guisborough First XV have blobbed this Saturday at Abbeydale.

Blobbers!!
