Wheatley to Sign entire new backline
« on: June 09, 2016, 10:15:04 PM »
Wheatleys recent AGM had a full 10 minute section dedicated to how poor their back line was and their intention is to sign an entire new back line, full of young players who are ready to quit a local teams youth set up.

Must have been great listening for the lads, plenty of young club players, sat in the meeting, hearing how there efforts aren't good enough for the club and they're planning on replacing them for imports.

Sad state of affairs from a club I once would have done anything for.

I'm impressed that you had a load of players at an AGM....

Such a shame that. I had the impression that quite a few of the players were Wheatley lads, doesn't do much to build a club ethos and all that.

It was embarrassing really, how the lads just sat there and took it, I'll never know. The very few lads to have come through the clubs poor junior section and they have to sit through that.

Ambition is rather insensitive sometimes. Not very well considered.

I assume the Backline is DPs 2nd XV or Senior Colts.

You still intend on playing for them upon your ban ending?

Sounds like a well cooked recipe for short term gain and medium to long term pain, if it comes off i am sure the young lads you have will find clubs that are more than happy to have them in their first teams and once the imports get the club promoted and then bugger off to pastures new they will be left with a third team to play in a higher league then the current first team is in. At which stage the allikadoes scratch their heads watching the team get beat by 50 points every week and say "what happened to young Tommy we could really do with him now" - yours in joint cynicism OSP

In the unlikely event that I do play once my ban is up, I won't be playing at Wheatley. Which is a bit sad, as I've always looked forward to the day when I could run back onto my old ground, but there's a few people who've spoiled the club with their sense of self importance and bullying attitude.

I saw a Wheatley Tweet regarding their sevens and saw some of the lads and their coach.
Those lads are not ready for NE2 rugby yet which is a real worry.

Not until you show me the beach hut you promised me, and as much Old Rosie as I could drink. Which is, as history has shown, not a lot.

I find that sad to be frank but a growing problem in a lot of clubs people in charge who's egos get in the way.

I find it hard to believe they want to replace the entire back line the Barkers have always been solid performers
