Ribb 2XV 17 Ilkley 3XV 10
Fortunate to play in the glorious settings of Settle on Saturday and lost out 17-10 in the last minute. Complete opposite of a game to when we played them at home, Ilkley all over Ribb for the first 10 minutes then the game settled down into a war of attrition in the forwards with the backs getting little ball. The middle of the pitch was unplayable with what must of been a few ton of sand dumped on it which only made it more of a swamp with one of the lads sustaining an injury because of it. Anyway was good to see Ribb with a full squad as they struggled for 15 at Ilkley hopefully they can keep that squad together as they were pretty handy especially in the forwards.
I'm not in the game of criticising referees as without them this game wouldn't go ahead without them, but I did find the ref on Saturday particularly out of his depth, he couldn't keep up with play and to counter his lack of fitness he was rather too whistle happy which began to spoil things especially towards the end with Ilkley penalised 5 times on their own line in the space of minutes without binning anyone?
