Dan Carter has it right in that our shill set just isn't high enough.  We've created enough chances to score tries but have butchered them with poor passes or decision making. That is the difference between New Zealand and the rest of the world.  I'd love to go out to NZ and spend some time seeing how they coach every age group right up to seniors, I'd bet you'd learn bucket loads

You think they wave a magic wand over there old pal?  I bet the secret is basics, over and over again from a very young age until they are natural.

I thought the Highlanders game was awesome, 1 point in it and if Daley hadn't been moved 2 meters back we'd have won the match.  I do agree we are butchering chances which is cause for concern.  I don't agree with this set piece dominance people are imagining either.  Maybe with Kruis at the helm the lineout is good but our scrum has been matched and imo bettered in just about every game.  The kiwis look solid on their own ball time and again and we look shaky.

I do agree with Relieved though, I don't see any cause for doom and gloom, can anyone remember a Lions tour where we played opposition of this standard, because I can't?  We squeezed the life out of the Crusaders and if we can replicate that in the tests along with the defence efforts I think there is always a chance.

No magic wand, it would be good to see how they keep it interesting. Maybe perhaps we are trying to hard to be interesting and not hammering the basics enough!

Not posted for a while, here's my take on things.

While the Lions aren't up rooting any trees I don't see a need for panic, or a bunch of replacements!!

It is still all to play for, to have a shout of winning the test series, I think we have to win the first test?

Think the test side is starting to take shape? Something like;

M Vunipola
K Owens
T Furlong
G Kruis
M Itoje
P O Mahoney
S O Brian
T Faleteu
C Murray
O Farrel
G North
B Teo
J Davies
A Watson
L Halfpenny

Debate around 2,6,7 & 11 perhaps?

PS - Predictive text loved some of the surnames!!

Not a bad shout but I think WG might be too loyal to some of his usual tribe...
Loving all rugby but especially at grassroots level. Lucky to be involved in England's number one ranked level 7 league...Yorkshire One.

I agree BRB. It should be Kruis and Itoje in the row. I wouldn't be surprised if AWJ gets in?

Only change for me is at hopper.
Jamie George has been outstanding and has a working relationship with the 2 2nd rows. To win the game they need to be confident in their first phase ball.

I agree that Kruis, George and O'Mahoney deserve to start on Saturday after their performances against the Maoris but I too think that Gatland might stay with Owens, Wyn Jones and his skipper

If George North has any sense, he'll throw a sickie and declare himself unfit to play.
Based on his current efforts and the way the ABs attacked down the flanks they'll rip him apart.

And O'Mahoney should be match Captain.
A leader who never knows when to give in and one the team can follow.
Warburton wasn't fit to travel in the first place and so far has done nothing to justify selection. It is how they are playing now that counts, not what they once did in the past.

Gatland has totally sold of what it means to be a Lion.
Some disgraceful call ups.
It's not just people with triskaidekaphobia that should fear Outside Centres. Everyone should.

Agree, not a dig at the players called up at all, but just devalues the entire ethos of what it means to be a Lion.

I was almost there - ish!

Great shout with POM as skipper.

Not surprised with George at 2, there on merit.

AWJ is not a great surprise although MI will feel a tad agrieved.

Think Daly is a good shout, North has looked out of sorts.

I am surprised with the choice at 15. I rate halfpenny highly, not a great believer in Part Time players starting at that level. During a game circumstances may dictate this - Scotland at Twickenham, Pyrgos played wing - not as a starter.

Prove me wrong Liam, PLEASE🙏🏻🙏🏻

Think it's a cracking test team we have 'plenty in the tank' when it comes to the bench.  Those boys coming on at 50mins will cause some damage.

POM has played his socks off and deserves the arm band.  Similar mould of player to a Richard Hill, head down, grafting... wise choice as skipper.  Daley on the wing is biggest surprise for me, but the lad is awesome.  Lets see them go out now and rip it up!!
