Been great to get back out on the pitch the last couple of weeks. We (Harrogate Pythons) have had mixed 1st/2nd squad games against Baildon and Wetherby with Rowntrees and another against Baildon to come. Obviously a long way to go until the season restarts properly but just playing rugby again has been brilliant! Though this lack of scrums business is no good, hopefully the 2021/22 season will be back to normal rules.

I understand that you can get a free one month "trial" with Amazon Prime? Now might be the time to "trial" it (not sure what strings attached though).

30 days free trial. They take all your payment info and set it up to start automatically charging you at the end of your trial period. To avoid this just go to your account settings and turn off your membership renewal.

Don’t think it will matter much as according to Harrogates twitter they have abandoned this season with potentially a cup competition to give ‘some’ fixtures if the sides in their league agree.

Given today's news that the final weekend of Premiership games is in chaos due to two clubs suffering an outbreak despite all the testing and "bubbling" that takes place at that level, we seem to be at a decision point.

Do we accept that there's nothing that can be done to stop this thing until a vaccine becomes available and start playing again with individuals taking their own risk decisions regarding participation,

Or stop pretending any form of meaningful competition can / is likely to happen this season and pull the shutters down, leaving clubs to carry on their own internal training systems in the interests of physical and mental wellbeing and explore alternative methods of income generation ?

Not sure where I stand on this one....

Given that professional rugby clubs, rugby league teams, international footballers and even world leaders manage to test positive for Covid 19 despite all the restrictions and facilities they have available to them is there ever going to be a point where our game is safe to play, in any form, until the virus is gone?

It goes one of two ways for me:
1) The game is not safe to play so there’s no grassroots rugby until an effective vaccine is found.
2) We resume playing in January with the game as is. There are certainly areas we can speed up the game around rucks, line outs and scrums without having to sanitise the game itself as they seem to be the key areas of concern on the pitch. Off the pitch clubs will just have to do what they can. Spread out over multiple changing rooms where possible, certain numbers in the showers at a time, no sharing kit/water bottles/etc.

Maybe things will be clearer come the end of January once the flu season and students coming home effect has been seen in the numbers plus the effects of any further local and national lockdowns/restrictions.

RFU have released a fixture list as if the season would start on 5th September, with contingencies in place for various starting dates. Key info is probably the split of teams into:

Harrogate, Otliensians, West Park Leeds, Bramley, Burley, Wibsey & Skipton

Knottingley, Castleford, Hemsworth, Barnsley, Vandals, Sheffield Medics & Ossett

Looked like a much changed club on and off the pitch when I watched the cup game in January. Certainly look to have a decent team so I look forward to playing against you. Hopefully as close to September as possible!

There were bound to be winners and losers out of this situation and unfortunately it was us by a fleas knacker hair! No easy way of deciding how it all ended up specifically in our league at the top and dare I say it's probably the closest deciding margin in the country. Congratulations to both Leeds and Baildon on their promotions and good luck in Yorkshire 2 and I'm sure all of our lads will miss our good battles we've had over the past few years. Commiserations to Aire and Phoenix but probably for the best to regroup and bring players through at that level. We go again next year in this very competitive league! For now stay safe everyone and hopefully see you all soon. Up the worms!

Try Yorkshire 4, York RI missed out on promotion by 0.23 points! It’s unlucky for Knottingley as they know if they’d won all their remaining games they’d have gone up but then Baildon would have said the same. Still think it would have gone down to that Baildon v Knottingley match to be a promotion decider.

North One / Re: What happens if the Season finishes early?
« on: April 02, 2020, 03:05:51 PM »
So each team gets maximum points for their remaining games? Then it goes on
1) Percentage of wins
2) Percentage of draws
3) Average winning margin
4) Win percentage taking away 1st game of the season, then 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc until necessary to differentiate.

Have I understood that correctly?

I’d tried to work it out but the language is open to interpretation so just gonna wait for the publication of the final league table.

Best Playing Record

as between the Clubs at Level 4 and below:

• which of the two Clubs had the better percentage record taking the number of league points (including bonus points) gained (or awarded by the appropriate Organising Committee taking into account any appeals and the result thereof) during the current Season programme of league matches (as reflected in the final league table) as a percentage of the maximum number of league points (including bonus points) it was possible to gain had the Club won every one of its matches against the other Clubs shown in the final league table;

• in the event of the percentages being identical which of the two Clubs had the better percentage record taking the number of wins (as reflected in the league table) as a percentage of the maximum number of matches played during the current Season programme;

• in the event of the percentages being identical which of the two Clubs had the better percentage record taking the number of draws (as reflected in the league table) as a percentage of the maximum number of matches played during the current season programme;

• in the event of the percentages being identical which of the two Clubs had the higher average winning margin in its said programme of league matches to be calculated by deducting from the points scored by the Club the points scored against the Club and dividing the difference by the number of matches played by the Club (or deemed by that Club’s Organising Committee to have been played by the Club in that Competition points were awarded to the Club) in the Club’s said league programme. When determining Best Playing Record as between two different leagues (Play-off venue), a match awarded in favour of a Club as a 0-0 Walkover shall not be counted when calculating that Club’s average winning margin;

• if this still does not establish the Best Playing Record then the Clubs involved shall be ranked according to the percentage number of matches won, excluding the first League match of the season.  If necessary this process shall be extended to exclude the second match, third match and so on until a Best Playing Record is established.
Best Runner Up

the County not winning its pool and

(i) having the next best total of competition points for  matches won and drawn or failing that

As per the RFU statement posted above the season has been ended. Remains to be seen what happens with promotions/relegations etc but I’ll keep this page updated as much as possible. Stay safe everyone and see you all next season.
