With this season now all but over. Does anyone know anything about the league restructuring and how the leagues will look next year.

Ym go down! After the hardest season in their history. We finished the season, fulfilling all our fixtures. How is real success measured? To all the teams that have been promoted congratulations. But a word of warning to all, money In the next couple of years it’s going to be very tight and all the teams at level 4 and below need to return to full amateur status. We hope to play you all in the future.

All of this makes real sense, let  Yorkshire Carnegie off with their fancy talk and solicitors for trying to live beyond their means and screw the grass roots club that has done nothing wrong aside from getting caught up in a global financial meltdown over a decade ago. Me thinks there may be a ground swell of support within the game. If not we should be ashamed of the sport.

Having read one or two remarks on here I thought it would be appropriate to let you all know the facts.  Approximately 15 years ago at the time of the financial meltdown and pension black holes/crisis  Huddersfield YMCA were informed as part of a wider organisational black hole that they had to pay in excess of £400,000 Approximately. 15 years ago tHe trustees of the complex at that time felt that it was unfair to be burdened with such a significant amount, as there were Only 12 former employees. Since that point the Huddersfield YMCA Sports Club  have challenged the fairness and validity of the amount of money mentioned. Earlier this year I am led to believe that the YMCA Huddersfield finally capitulated after a ombudsman ruling. Huddersfield YMCA Have attempted to negotiate a deal in order to pay their debts, this would be structured over a number of years. However without notice To Huddersfield YMCA the pension trustees of Central YMCA have sent in the bailiffs and demanded payment of approximately £160,000 in back payments with the full amount of around approximately £350-£400,000 due in total,

So what of the future, no one knows.

However I can categorically state to all those clubs that pay money to players, that the biggest saving grace to our club is that we pay no players, because if we did, we wouldn’t have been able to put out over 50 players today, putting out three teams And that is despite having a stag do, holidays and in excess of 20 players unavailable.

On behalf of Huddersfield YMCA I would like to thank Bradford and Bingley and their chairman and supporters for their understanding today. I am aware that they have offered use of their ground should we need it in the future.

Now is not the time to talk nonsense But is the time to support one of our own, Because isn’t that what makes our sport so great that in times of adversity we all come together and support each other because nobody wants to see anybody disappear  despite rivalries. Or is  that just a pipe dream now ?

However Huddersfield YM RUFC will not disappear because the trustees, committee, senior men players, senior ladies, 140 girls and boys, the clubs supporters and all rugby and sports fans will not allow it.

Fish you have no idea about rugby if that is your answer. Is stuffing a team by 80 points any good to anyone? And you can say what you want but there was more than 3 1st team players playing. You need to look at how many teams are struggling, with a team already with drawing from the merit league and teams struggling to put 1 team out let alone 2. So back to Saturday there was such an imbalance to the match as the score line states, could this suggest that there was more than just the three players playing. Anyway roll on the rematch.

PS:If Otliensians 1st team players were so keen for a match why not get one out of the pool?

Otliensians 2s beat Huddersfield YMCA 3rds 80 - 3.

Because this week was a week off in Y4, there was some talk from Huddersfield suggesting this was a first 15.

I watch Ensians week in week out, there were 3 1st team lads in the 2nds for this game. 2 lads coming back from injury and 1 lad who did not have much of a pre season.

This was an honest 2nd team!!

If it was a true 2s team then the 3 "First team" lads should not have played. The entire merit system is disgrace. There needs to be real structure and teams should not be allowed to pick and choose which league they are in. If you all want to see how a real merit league is run have a look at the "North West league".

Lads need to be able to play senior rugby ASAP, let them start playing at U16 level to get them involved with the senior section. It also stops them going to league were they can play at 16. Old school i know.
