Yorkshire 3 / Re: Going Down?
« on: March 10, 2016, 04:13:39 PM »
I can't call it. I think the recent game between us and Aire was to secure survival which I think Aire have done. Bitterly disappointed but we threw that game. Bramley are a strong side - but will this 10 point deduction kick in? I can't see them coming back from them. Rotherham have turned a corner recently and look like a new side - is it too late? Can we pick up the one win we probably need to survive? It is very very close

Bramley have had the 10 taken off so their on 13

Bramley is a home game for us

With only a few games left to play who do we think is going to be playing Yorkshire 4 next season?

As it stands:
Aireborough - 26 points - 7 games remaining
Home vs Stocks/Northallerton/Otliensians/Bramley/Harrogate
Away vs Halifax/Leeds Medics

Baildon - 24 points - 5 games remaining
Home vs Goole/Wetherby
Away vs Bramley/Harrogate/Rotherham

Rotherham - 14 points - 5 games remaining
Home vs Harrogate/Thorne
Away vs Goole/Wetherby/Baildon

Bramley - 13 points - 7 games remaining
Home vs Leeds Medics/Baildon/Halifax
Away vs Otliensians/Stocks/Northallerton/Aireborough

I think Rotherham are favourites for the drop given 3 of their 5 games are against the top 3. Aireborough should survive as 2 wins from 7 would be enough. I think with Baildon's home games against Wetherby/Goole and no away wins in over a year they could be in trouble. You can see Bramley picking up 3 wins from their 7 games so it may all come down to Bramley v Baildon on 19th March.

I think we've got a match against Leeds Medics. Looking at our fixtures it looks like we have fixtures every week so may have to pull out of the cup on 26th March to get the Thorne game played. Otherwise it'll be 30th April. That's just going off the fixture list, I'll leave the details to the secretaries.

Yes it's off. Last couple of days has been non-stop snow alternating with rain.

Baildon v Aireborough - huge game for both, but with Aire having a couple of games in hand Baildon need it more. Home win in a close game.
Halifax v Otliensians - better conditions should favour Otliensians.
Pythons v Thornensians - fairly close game last time we met so looking forward to this one. Thorne on a really good run of form so will have to be at our best to get something out of this game.
Northallerton v Leeds Medics - interesting game this. North's pack should dominate but with better conditions Medics backs could make things difficult.
Rotherham v Bramley - absolute must win for Bramley so backing them to overcome a resurgent Rotherham.
Stocksbridge v Leeds Mods - not a lot to choose between these two but Stocks have a good home record.
Wetherby v Goole - close contest in the backs but Wetherby got far too much in the forwards.

Pythons 10 - 10 Stocks. Frustrating game for us especially when the winger spoons the ball over the line with 5 to go. Fairly even game though and enjoying a few beers with them now.

Aireborough v Thornensians
Pythons v Stocksbridge

Rotherham v Halifax

Aireborough v Thornensians - Aireborough are losing a bit of form now the ground is firming up. Thorne with a five pointer
Harrogate Pythons v Stocksbridge - I'd love to see Stocks home v away win record. I don't think this match will give them another notch on the away post
Leeds Modernians v Old Otliensians - Otley to sneak this but within 7 points.
Rotherham Phoenix   v Halifax - Halifax always seem to get the luck of the bounce...

Home W6 D2 L2
Away W2 L7 (including cup)

The Bramley team as they are now would come straight back up from Yorkshire 4. They have some very good players, especially in the backs. Would all those players stay though?

Harrogate boys stayed, had a few beers, sang some songs. Cracking set of lads.

Goole great hosts. Thoroughly recommend a funbus there for anyone. The match itself we had a pack consisting of 5 front row and 3 2nd row with a flanker on the wing and number 8 at 13. Goole tried to play rugby from the first whistle, we did our best to keep it in the forwards but ultimately they had too much. Best referee of the season as well.
Good luck for the rest of the season and thanks for making us so welcome.

Aireborough v Rotherham - Roth have picked up a bit recently so could be a close one. Absolute must win for Aire though so they should be well up for this one.
Bramley v Wetherby - Wetherby will dominate in the forwards and set piece leaving no decent ball for Bramley's backs. Can't see past a comfortable away win.
Goole v Pythons - had too much for us in the backs last time we met so hoping it pisses it down on saturday. Taking our 1st and 2nd teams over on a funbus so will be a good day out win or lose!
Leeds Medics v Halifax - Medics haven't lost to anyone outside the top 4 since gameweek 1. Can't see that changing this weekend.
Leeds Mods v Baildon - Mods not on a good run of form and if Baildon are up for this then they could come away with the points.
Otliensians v Stocksbridge - Otliensians to have too much for Stocks.
Thorne v Northallerton - good battle up front but Thorne are better across the park.

It's a shame given they're a decent side capable of playing some good rugby. A few players are letting them down.
