Well I only got one right last week so hopefully this week will be better...

Baildon v Aireborough - Going with Aire. I have seen them play and they were decent. I haven't seen Baildon. Both have something to prove in this game and see Aire edging it.

Castleford v Knottingley - Game of the weekend in this early derby match. Just going with home advantage. Put both these teams down to win last week and wouldn't be surprised if the worms get the spoils.
Halifax Vandals v Harrogate Pythons - We're hosting a strong Pythons team this week. We have to get back to winning ways after what, by all accounts was a poor showing last week. They want to keep up their momentum after a good win last week.

Hemsworth v Rotherham Phoenix - Didn't play against Rotherham last week. From who I have spoken to they're well organised across 1-15. Hemsworth have been solid too. So I tossed a coin and its said Rotherham.

Leeds Corinthians v Leeds Modernians - Conrinths have made a good start. I expect them to carry that on this week. Mods finished high up last season so I don't think they will be struggling this season but I don't see this being their first win.

Skipton v Thornensians - Thorn to win. Well done to Skipton with a good win last week. Don't see this going the same way unfortunately.

Wensleydale v Sheffield Medics - Weird start to the season for us and Dale. I can see them using their pitch well and seeing off a spirited student side.

6 Predictions made. 5 wrong! Haha

Well done to all the teams defying expectations today!

This is going to be a fun league this year.

Gents is anyone actually reading what Gateprop asked us to do with regards to how the predictions league is running?

It's not hard. You predict the 6 game results that your team isn't involved with and pick a joker to get double points. If you're not part of a team in Y3 but wanting to play just drop one prediction.

Thats 6 predictions. Not 7

If you ain't taking part in the league then say and type away about all the games, but don't have him having to keep asking you.

Aireborough v Hemsworth - Aireborough were solid last week. Think they will grind it out at their place.

Castleford v Leeds Corinthians - Cas. But I don't think they will have it all their own way.

Harrogate Pythons v Wensleydale - Dale. Just more consistent.

Leeds Modernians v Skipton - Mods.

Rotherham Phoenix v Halifax Vandals - No comment.

Sheffield Medicals v Knottingley - Knottla too big and nasty for the youngsters.

Thornensians v Baildon - It's Thorn at home. I don't think they will lose at home this season.

Good start to the season for Vandals.

Tough game against Aireborough who were very solid. As expected they came at us with close ball work tight around the fringes. Good in the maul and at the breakdown.

First half both teams did well. We were up by a try and a bit.  Aire managed to get a score at the end of the half after our poor discipline lead to three penalties on the bounce and put us on our own line. Aire did the rest.

Second half we were poor in the first 20mins and they punished us for it. Got it back to 15-15. Then we gave our heads a wobble and picked it up in the final 20, getting another two scores putting it out of sight.

Lots to work on, but glad to start with a win against what I reckon will be a top half team.

Good ref today as well not had him before but was fair and clear ????

Opening to the new season. I reckon all teams will be missing Cricketers, Holidayers etc and so could throw a few curve balls out there.

Baildon v Hemsworth - Hemsworth - Not underestimating Baildon just basing it off how Hemsworth finished last season.

Harrogate Pythons v Knottingley - Harrogate - Rugby league season its coming to an end but not quite done yet. I think this could play into Harrogate hands.
Leeds Corinthians v Sheffield Medics - Corinths - Title winners full of confidence against whatever the students can drag together so early on.

Skipton v Castleford - Cas - Joker choice for me. Saw Skipton on sat. Lots of work to be done there if it's not going to be a long season.

Thornensians v Leeds Modernians - Thorn - Title favourites. Mods will give them a game but I can only see one winner.

Wensleydale v Rotherham Phoenix - Dale - If Cas weren't playing Skipton I would have put this as my Joker. Cheese wheelers will have too much.

Just watched Skipton draw 29-29 with Halifax.

Squad game so not exactly a true representation of 1st XV ability.

Looking like Thorn, Wensleydale and then Vandals as top three favourites after 50 votes or so.

Can't wait for this league to start! Gonna be a tight one I reckon.

Not heard from people on here in a while. Lets see what people are thinking for promotion candidates this season.

Haha well very kind of you 123. But we’re very realistic about our expectations this season after last year. Consolidation and a top half finish would be a good season. Y3 is tough.

Look at who finished 3rd and 4th last season for an indication of who will be there near the end of the season. I put North and Wensleydale to go up last year and they were 1st and 3rd.

So Wensleydale are my choice. With Hemsworth as dark horses after their cup run.
