Knottingley vs Vandals - A game of two halves really. First half Knottingley were the dominant team. They capitalised on us not being set at a ruck and ran though to score. Their second came from a good chip over the top and our player just not quite reading the bounce of the ball, letting their winger (I think) put the ball down.
Second half we came out a lot faster and stronger and put them under pressure pretty much the entire half. Credit to them for holding out and defending well. We blobbed 2/3 try scoring opportunties.

Lots of chirping, mostly from the props and 9. I know because I was at loose head and had to listen to them all game ;) but a hard and fair game. Well done to them and look forward to playing again up on Mount Doom.

Wensleydale next week. Always enjoy playing against them.

Castleford v Sheffield Medics - Cas all day long.
Knottingley v Halifax Vandals - Can see this being a good game, we've improved each week since our wake up call at Mods.
Leeds Corinthians v Hemsworth - Not played Hems yet and Corinths are solid enough, so gonna go with home advantage.
Leeds Modernians v Harrogate Pythons - Pythons to take this.
Skipton v Aireborough - Got to go with Skip at home
Thornensians v Rotherham Phoenix - Game of the week. Thorn to win it in a tight one.
Wensleydale v Baildon - Wensleydale by a lot.

Aireborough v Wensleydale - Dale will have too much.
Castleford v Stanley Rodillians - HWO
Halifax Vandals v Baildon - Got a decent team together this week. Hopefully that will translate into converting some of the opportunities we've left out on the pitch the last two games. Never taken Baildon lightly though and never will, they always show up against us.
Harrogate Pythons v Knottingley - Pythons on the form of this season, though I think Knottingley, like ourselves, will want to do well in the cup this season.
Marist v Rotherham Phoenix - AWO
Wibsey v Ossett - Coin tossed and it said Wibsey.

Aireborough v Thornensians - Thorn to have too much for Aire.

Baildon v Sheffield Medics - Tough game to call.... Medics, just.

Halifax Vandals v Leeds Corinthians...No prediction here. Just looking to build on the last two weeks. Corinths have played well so far. No expectations but Leeds won't have an easy time on top of the hill.

Harrogate Pythons v Castleford - Again not the best to try and call. Im going for the pythons.

Hemsworth v Skipton - Not easy this week are they! Home advantage to see this.

Rotherham Phoenix v Leeds Modernians - Pheonix. They're at home and and higher in the league.

Wensleydale v Knottingley - Wensleydale in a tight one.

"Watched Skipton vs Vandals, not a classic by any stretch. In perfect conditions both set of backs couldn't pass wind. Vandals a little more shape and go forward in the forwards, the small Skipton 9 got given terrible ball all day ( should have just gone home and left them too it). Vandals seem to have couple of decent backs but the ball was far too laboured. Lot of work to do in both teams, both need to find a 10, whilst developing some sort of pattern / shape."

Can't disagree with much of that really. Think both teams will feel they left tries out there.

For our part getting the win was all important. Stopping the slide down the leagues and improving performances has been our only concern. Hopefully we're now doing that. The last two performances have been a lot better. Still have injuries to return, still got to put our game plan together for a full game, but, things look a lot better this Monday than they did two weeks ago. Onwards and upwards!

Well done to Castleford yesterday. Played well and got 3 (I think I remember right) tries off the back of our basic mistakes.

As was said above we are in a transition period and last season is still taking its toll injury wise. We had 5 players who weren't available yesterday. Not an excuse for losing, just with people out of position it makes a game a lot more difficult to be fluid.
Results will come when we get consistency in team selection I have no doubt. Its a long season.

Yeh problems started when we tried to differentiate ourselves from the 4 other Y1 teams in Halifax by going contactless. What a blunder, caused us no end of problems....

Castleford v Wensleydale - Just see Cas snatching this one at home
Harrogate Pythons v Hemsworth - Hemsworth playing well. Don't see them dropping points here.
Leeds Modernians v Knottingley - Mods to turn up.
Rotherham Pheonix v Aireborough Pheonix are on a roll and at home.
Sheffield Medics v Halifax Vandals - No idea. If we play well we can beat anyone. We haven't in the last two games so....
Skipton v Baildon - Skipton to keep up winning ways this week.
Thornensians v Leeds Corinthians - Don't think the stag do (Or whatever it was) will have lasted two weekends.

From my (Vandal) perspective, we knew how difficult getting out of this league was after coming straight up from 4. Coming down after a pretty horrendous season last year i'm not surprised to see some shock results in here.

Slightly different to the two promoted teams this season, when we went up we lost 4 out of our first 6 games and still finished top of the league. I don't think we will see true league contenders come out until after xmas. Knottingley were something like 12 points clear at xmas and ourselves and Goole caught them.

Well done to Phoenix and Corinths this season so far. By all account they both have good systems set up and are all singing from the same hymn sheet. However it's a long old season and some teams clearly are yet to get into their stride. As always if a side can steer clear of injuries and keep a consistent side they have every chance of going up.
